Petzl Aztar Axe - 2006
The Petzl Aztar Adze ice axe is an extreme ice and alpine climbing axe. When you need superior performance because you find yourself in the most demanding mountaineering situations, count on the Aztar. The adze head is suited for the rigors of mountaineering—it's great at clearing and chopping hard snow so you can set up protection or your bivy. The thin, 3mm Blueice pick (type B) is forged specifically for hard ice. Because accuracy counts above all else, the steep angled first tooth keeps gives you reassurance in thin ice and on small edges. A thin elastomer handle and curved top shaft (type T) work together to provide precise placements and hooking. The Freelock leash features padded wrist support and can be tightened and loosened with the twist of the wrist.
Bottom Line: When you're out to tackle the toughest alpine environment, equip yourself with gear built that environment.
