Perception Sundance Series Kayak - 2006

The Perception Sundance Series Kayak is super-stable, very roomy, and the perfect match for beginner to intermediate kayakers who want to cruise around the lake. An incredibly popular family boat, the Sundance has enough room in the cockpit to bring a kid along or stash a day's worth of gear. If you need more room, the 12ft model includes a rear water-tight hatch for extra storage. Dual-track channels on the bottom increase stability even further and help this Perception Sundance track straight when the wind picks up. A thermoformed seat pad and adjustable highback assure that your day of paddling is comfortable.

Bottom Line: The Perception Sundance Series kayak is stable, easy to paddle, and perfect for the whole family.

Perception Sundance 12

Pluses? Stable. Huge cockpit so it is very easy to climb in and out. Room for the dog - Vizsla - too. Tracks well. Carries up to 350+ lbs yet light enough to lift up to a Thule rack on top of a Saturn VUE. Great price - $399 on sale at D*ck's Sporting Goods.

Minuses? Huge cockpit so you tend to get wetter than in a boat with more coverage. Splash, paddle drip etc. Answer for me was to get a skirt. The bulkhead compartment is definitely not watertight. No big deal. Bought silicon caulk and resealed it. Worse feature is the seat. It's junk. Poor design. Mine broke and was replaced under warranty. Made some mods to the seat back with the hopes of preventing future breaks. I also drilled a hole in the bow and installed a Harmony threaded drain cap.

Overall not a bad first boat.

Perception Sundance Kayak

I LOVE this kayak, it was easy for me to handle weight-wise and short enough to fit in the back of my truck for quick and easy travel. If i could marry this kayak, I would.

Perception Sundance Kayak

By:
August 9, 2006

We just wanted to let you know that we are enjoying our Kayaks. They have brought something new into our lives, as we are now 76 and 77 years old. I packed a lunch and we headed for Pinecrest, a small lake about 40 minutes from here. We paddled around on the clear blue water surrounded by Pine Trees and we felt so secure. Thanks again for 2 great Kayaks. Joyce & Bill Priddy. Sonora, CA.

kayak review

By:
May 5, 2006

Hi, the kayak I bought is my first, and love it. When I took it around the first time, I really enjoyed it, I forgot the time and distance I went; the kayak is so stable I was not afraid to keep going plus the weather that day is beautiful. The way back was the problem, there was not much reference point, the islands all look the same and I got scared, but after an hour I found my way back. I was actually on the flats, the bottom is so beautiful with lots of sea sponge but I’m afraid to take it. The kayak is really good, I can recommend to other beginners, but I should have bought the two person kayak, maybe one of this day I’ll get it.

The No Lack Kayak

By:

This Kayak Sundance Perception doesn't lack a thing when it comes to looks, comfort, and performance. Beautiful little water craft! I got it for my wife as I had one of a different brand already. I find that I like hers better and am trying to talk her in to trading with me. If someone is looking for a stable and comfortable kayak with the added bonus of good looks, then this is the right one to pick.
