Whether you surf in California, river raft in Utah, or hang out at the lakeshore in Minnesota, you'll be comfortable in the Patagonia Women's Wavefarer Board Shorts. These lightweight, durable shorts feature a regular fit and a low rise. A tie at the waist lets you get these nylon Patagonia shorts as snug as you want them. The Wavefarer's side pocket includes a key loop so you can play in the water without losing anything important.
Bottom Line: Wear the Patagonia Wavefarer Board Shorts for surfing and all your other on-the-water activities.
These are my absolute fave board shorts; I didn't find them to run small but I have hips, butt & thighs and most board shorts don't fit me right but the 6 fits me perfectly. I live in them for paddling my OC1 & am ordering another pair in a differnt color. Love the patterns.
K. Yes, these shorts run small, so order a size up. But skip ordering all together if you plan on doing any real distance swimming. These shorts are cute for beach ball parties and maybe an easy river float, but have way too much drag for a rigorous swim. Also, i don't trust the snap'n'tie closure which seems sorta wimpy and one well placed class 2 rapid could take 'em right off! And as much as i love the idea of swimming au' natural, I rather not have to loose a $50 investment while doing so.
So, these board shorts work, but... They're definitely not my favorites from Patagonia. First of all, they have no stretch at all, unlike some previous Patagonia favorites that have had slightly stretchy fabric and stay comfy all day. In addition, I have to agree with a lot of the other folks out there who are saying these are sized weird for Patagonia gear. I have a pair from a previous season that I thought were just too small... They're a size 8 (my usual size) and are really tight at the fullest part of my hips, but fit fine in the legs and waist. I took the advice of other folks on here and sized up to a 10, and it's the same story! The hip tightness appears to be a universal design flaw, but I suppose if you have a really flat butt they'll work! :s One improvement from past seasons is a new snap closure instead of one tiny circle of velcro like my old pair has.
I have these shorts in the Plaid Espresso color and I really like them. I have worn them rafting, hiking, etc and have found that they fit just right, even with my ghetto booty. They do have a plastic snap, which I wouldn't trust with any strenuous activity, but other than that, I don't have any complaints. Cute and practical.
