When you crave the insulating warmth of a fleece but need something a bit more refined, the Patagonia Women’s Synchilla Plush Pile Jacket keeps you toasty and fashionable. The thick, plush pile fleece provides luxurious warmth for cold walks downtown, and the buttoned wrap closure gives you way more style than your standard zip-up. Side-seam pockets give you a streamlined place to put your hands or your cell phone. Patagonia also designed this jacket to be fully recyclable through their Common Threads Recycling Program.
Bottom Line: An eco-chic fleece for stylish occasions.
I got my package today and had to try it on. The color was darker than what the picture showed but it's super soft. True to size, I got an xsmall and it fit perfectly. And like everyone commented, the buttonhole was a little big so will sew it smaller.
Does this run true to size? I wear between a 14-16 and either a L or XL depending on the brand and type of fit. Is it roomy enough to wear layers underneath? Also does this have a zipper? Thanks.
I would say it runs true to size for a normal shirt but to order one size larger for layering or wear as a jacket. I normally wear a size 4-6/small and ordered both a small and medium of this jacket to try out the fit - I kept the medium since I wanted to layer it and returned the small. This has two buttons, one at the waist and one higher up near the neck. There is no zipper. This jacket also has an inside tie (kind of a wrap style top) near the waist. This tie falls slightly too high for me and I plan to move it down closer to the normal waistline. As another reviewer pointed out, the bottom buttonhole on my jacket is slightly too large and comes open, so I have sewed up the buttonhole slightly to keep it closed. Even with these slight alterations (which may not be necessary for everyone), I absolutely love this jacket and have ordered another in a different color.
This jacket is so soft and cozy - it is like wearing a teddy bear. I have been wearing it as a top layer to keep warm around the house and at work, where the thermostats have been turned down to save energy. I have been living in this to survive our cold midwest winter. I would not say that this jacket is suitable for outdoor wear during a midwest winter. It would be fine for fall or late spring outdoor wear. But I most love it for wearing indoors as a substitute for a fleece or cardigan sweater.
I like the style since it is kind of different, with the wrap front. It is quite dressy (for Patagonia or any other outdoor clothing company), even though it is a hoodie, and is a great alternative to fleece. It is suitable for my workplace, where I feel wearing a standard fleece jacket/sweater would be too casual.
The buttons are in the right spots and I like the top button to put the fabric closer to my neck for warmth - the hood can be sort of bunched up in back for more of a cowl look. The hood is a nice size, not too large or heavy.
The fabric is a nice weight, fairly thick but still lightweight. The Olallaberry color is a nice wine color. See my comments in the question below for sizing recommendation.
I like this jacket so much that I ordered another in a different color.
The main advantage is just two buttons in the presence. Some times my wife experiences difficulties to find out the nice fitted fleece and softshell jackets cause of difference in chest/ waist/ hip size (figures belong to various clothing sizes). One of the recent issues: she usually wears size 10-12, The North Face Bionic Jacket size M makes pleats on the back and sleeves too long. Therefore you have to order size S. Torso is long as well. For 5â2â lady it fits not so well, especially if the tops size is 10-12 and bottom size 12-14. Patagonia Synchilla Plush Pile Jacket size M fits good.
I don't know the temperature rating, but I just got my jacket a few days ago (LOVE it by the way) and it's definitely for fall/early winter warmth. When it's much colder I can layer it under a heavier coat or wear it around the house. It's very cozy!
This jacket is incredibly soft and warm yet lightweight. The color is fantastic! Love the fit because it is loose enough to wear over clothes, but not so loose that it looks sloppy. The only complaint I have is the button doesn't stay closed. I plan to replace it with a bigger button.
I bought last years version of this jacket without the hood and it is very soft, lightweight, and incredibly warm. I just love it. Can be a little dressy or casual, and it washes nicely too.
Super warm for hanging around the house or to dress up an outfit and go out. I tried the jacket on in a retail store before purchasing and could have gone with an XS or S but decided on the small for a little more room underneath for layers. I am 5'3" 120lbs. My only minor complaints are that the sleeves are a tad long and the button holes required a little cinching up with some thread to keep the jacket from coming undone.
