Patagonia Stretch Element Low Bib - Men's

Patagonia designed the fully waterproof Men’s Stretch Element Low Bibs for serious alpine climbs and deep backcountry descents. The Stretch Element gives you full weather protection with the unimpaired mobility of a softshell. The three-layer shell features an H2No waterproof breathable barrier and stitch-free taped seams to cut bulk and increase water resistance. Four-point suspenders keep the bibs in place when your snapping huge jump turns or dry-tooling out a cave, and the full-separating, two-way side zips make ventilation easy after the long skin up. Gripper elastic gaiters seal out powder when you’re waist deep, and 80D reinforcements on the seat and legs resist abrasion on rugged outings.

Bottom Line: Burly bibs built for the backcountry.

Great Backcountry Pants

By:
August 11, 2009

Purchased these pants for mountaineering/bc skiing. The fit is a nice, trim athletic fit, perfect for throwing on an insulated overpant to keep warm on rests, and allowing for easy movement. The stretch to the fabric is also very nice. The middle height bib waist is PERFECT. Rises just high enough to keep the elements out, and has a nice, flexible, tight seal to keep drafts from rushing down. The fit well over my Nepal Evo, and very snug around my ski boots. Full side zips are great, and the suspenders, although a bit different, work just fine.

Patagonia Stretch Element Low Bib

these are great pants, although the stretchiness is a bit overrated. They are high enough and snug enough to provide some real warm around your midrift, without being too high. The bottoms just barely fit around backcountry ski boots, but are ok. We'll see how they last - but even if they don't Patagonia takes back anything, no matter how old, when it stops working.

not worth the $400

didn't get a chance to even wear them. The fit around the waist was awkward, the suspenders are really flimsy. The pockets are so small you can't fit your hand into them.
