Patagonia Stretch Ascent Jacket - Men's

From the towering spires of Patagonia to the unforgiving peaks of the Himalayas, the Patagonia Men’s Stretch Ascent Jacket gives you unparalleled weather protection for the vertical world. This 2.5-layer hardshell features an H2No waterproof breathable barrier and dynamic stretch to keep you dry and move with you through every pitch. A helmet-compatible hood blocks out spindrift and moisture at the belay, and the underarm zip vents let you dump heat after a heady lead.

Bottom Line: Breathable and dynamic protection for nasty alpine weather.

How does this jacket compare with the Patagonia Shelter Stone

How does this jacket compare with the Patagonia Shelter Stone hard shell? I'm looking for a good hard shell to take up Rainier and Shasta.

both jackets would work great for the climbs up Rainier and Shasta. The Shelter Stone is a little burlier shell and would provide a little more protection when it's super wet and nasty out, and the Stretch Ascent is lighter weight, more packable, and has a little more stretch to accomodate movement. Both are completely waterproof and breathable.

Technically, the Spraymaster is a hard shell due to its waterproof membrane. The Stretch Ascent is also waterproof.

it's definitely similar, but the Spraymaster was a soft shell and this is a hard shell. The Stretch Ascent is a softer hard shell than other hard shells out there and it's got some stretch to it as the name implies. great jacket!
