Mmm…stretchy. And flattering. We're guessing that's what will go through your head when you zip into the Patagonia Women's R2 Jacket. This midweight, breathable jacket feels warm on November nights, and layers under a shell during mid-winter ski-slope attacks. Stretch panels under the arms and at the collar provide an increased range of motion. The R2 Jacket's angled chest yoke gives a slimming look, and the streamlined cut minimizes bulk.
Bottom Line: Make Patagonia's R2 your go-to jacket this winter.
I received an R2 for my 17th birthday present (5 years ago) and am still wearing it now and it has held up great. I also have a few other newer ones in other colors. I live in this fleece: warm, durable, and good looking!
On this wesite, the Patagonia R2 is bright red. On other websites, including Patagonia.com, the color is completely different--a more auburn red. What is the true color of the fleece? Bright red as pictured here, or rosy red pictured elsewhere??
I got this jacket for my birthday about two months ago and it has been a perfect transition fleece from my winter coat to no coat at all. My only grievance against it is that it's not very wind-resistant, but if you're looking for something wind-proof, I would go with a shelled jacket. Otherwise, fleece is warm and incredibly comfortable.
I am interested in this jacket, just don't know what size to get. My first thought is Medium, as I am average sized, but I see it is a "trim fit." I want it to be a bit loose and comfortable and not super snug, but also don't want it to look way too big. Any thoughts? Go for the Large?
Patagonia sizing is really unpredictable, so I tried this jacket on in a store. It runs pretty big. I'm a medium and I almost got the small. I would definitely go for the medium.
This is a great jacket for someone about 5' 2" or taller. It misses the mark for a person measuring 5' 0". It's a hair too long as a result and it makes for an uncomfortable fit because the waist curves in too low and it sits too low on the hips. It would be great if BackCountry could provide jacket lengths. It's pretty crucial. If you're petite in height, to have the info on jacket length would spare the time and shipping costs in ordering something that will clearly not be right. Someone who is short, but who still has a woman's curves would be better off buying a children's large.
Very comfortable. Incredibly warm. Sizing is right on. Very avant guard fashion! Not sure how it will survive continuous washing, though (time will tell).
I have not worn it long enough to give it a 5 rating.
its expensive thats for sure, and many like me will struggle and ponder whether its worth the cost. I have worn it almost every day since purchse two months ago. it breathes, its super warm when covered with a shell (MH quark!!) and most importantly it makes this moron look sexy....yeah baby! OK excuse that sorry display truth is it is the most highly functional fleece I own. I havnt worn my covert since, and Ive spent a lot of time tryng to decide who to pawn my hated North Face Denali off on. NF will you die already!
I'm wondering how fleecy this is. I' looking for something cozy but definitel trendy and sleek. That new micro fleece is neat. Would you recommend one of your other fleeces as opposed to the R2 jacket? Also I'm petite about 5'4 and thin, but have a bigger bust 34 C do you think the xs will fit me or be uncomfortably small?
i have a couple of these jackets -- they do them each year. i buy an XS and i am about 5'5" and 112lbs and a 32B with solid shoulders and arms-- i'm not petite. I like the fit. it has those diagonal arm seams which make it easy to move. I don't think it would be uncomfortably tight. it is a loosely woven fleece that has a lot of give. r2 is a fairly lightweight jacket and definitely not the least bit windproof if that's what you are looking for. it's a great layering piece and yes, it looks good. i agree with the comments about the zipper.
this jacket is great. it's a perfect weight - not too heavy and not too light - and the fit is feminine and attractive. i'm 5'2" and 100 lbs and i ordered the small. the body fits great though the sleeves are a bit long.
As with all Patagonia jackets, this jacket is made well and is definitely worth the money. My jacket has gone everywhere with me, kayaking, hiking, climbing and camping and has never let me down. It wicks away moisture just as fast as a performance base layer, as well as the warmth that a fleece provides. Always order a size up in Patagonia. If you're constantly active outside then then you will definitely love this jacket.
