Patagonia Mesh Back PFD - 2008

Patagonia created the Mesh Back PFD specifically for recreational and sit-on-top kayaks. By eliminating all bulk from the lower back, Patagonia gave the Mesh Back PFD a shape that remains comfortable when you lean back against your boat's seat. Two large stretch-mesh pockets hold the small necessities you need to keep within easy reach when you're on the water.

Bottom Line: Get yourself the Patagonia Mesh Back PFD to go with that new sit-on-top kayak you just bought.

The mesh back makes my day trips so much more comfortable! No more reaching around to adjust the foam riding up my back! Great product for the price! stylish too! ;)

I take it this would be a bad pfd for whitewater paddling?

Depends on what you are planning to do in the water. Whitewater kayaking you would be better off with something designed more for whitewater usually lower profile allowing for greater movement, and frequently with less straps to get stuck on things unless its a rescue vest, but then look at whitewater raft boats and they are in full coast gaurd pfds that are quite bulky. Might be advised to look at other pfds. I paddle in the stohlquist wedge E and like it for the most part.
