Patagonia Lightwire 25 Backpack - 1600cu in

Commute to work with the Patagonia Lightwire 25 Backpack, and then escape to the trails with it when you've had enough of the daily grind. This versatile pack holds a laptop (up to 17-inch) in the padded sleeve and flat documents or magazines in the secondary compartment. Switch your work stuff out for a rain jacket and lunch, and take the Lightwire out for an afternoon on the trails. The breathable spacer-mesh shoulder straps and back panel breathe moisture and provide support, while the sternum strap and waist belt keep the pack secure. Stash your MP3 player in the interior media pocket and stick your water bottle in the side stretch pocket.

Bottom Line: Ride to work, then sneak out of work with this pack.

Great bag for work/school...not so much for backcountry.

By:

This is a great bag. I use it for grad school. It has a great padded laptop case. It has tons of pockets and just about anything you want to be organized. My big complaint is that it could be a little larger. Also, the waist belt would never work if you were depending on it for any kind of weight bearing. It really is just for looks. All around a great school/work pack!

Great College Pack

By:
August 12, 2009

I have been going about my business finding all the pieces I needed to have before I left for college and in terms of laptop safety, usability, and over all performance this pack is great.

If you need a pack that will last you a long time and keep your stuff safe and organized I highly recommend this product.

Awesome pack for school!!

By:

This is a very durable pack, typical Patagonia quality, what more can I say. I treat it like crap, when my computer is not in it of course, and it still looks great. The pockets and layout is perfect. I really like the elephant ears zipper that makes one-handed opening of the organizer pocket very easy. I like how one side is a water bottle holder and the other is a zipper pocket that looks small but can hold a lot of stuff. Fits a 15inch macbookpro perfectly. Stowable hip belt is a plus. The pack itself fits very well, and it move with you. I only wish that it has more padding for the laptop, although more padding mean heavier and bulkier. It would also be cool to have a bungee-daisy chain system to stash stuff like a jacket. Other then those personal tidbits, this the best school pack ever.

My commute got easier

By:

I searched for a long time for a pack that had all the features I wanted, and this pack was ultimately the closest I could get. The organizer is great and easy to access (could be a smidge bigger), the pack is extremely comfortable, the laptop pocket is perfect, and the two different exterior pockets are a real plus. The zippered side pocket is perfect for my work ID, transit pass, and car keys - I always know where they are. No more rooting around in my messenger bag. Switching to a backpack with all that weight in the pack saved my neck, too. It fits my laptop, thermos, lunch, water bottle, jacket, book, and various additional stuff with no problem. It seems really well made, too, typical of Patagonia. My only gripe is the same as "Cutback"'s - I wish it had some kind of exterior strap to secure something too in a hurry. Compression, bungee, anything. On the other hand, the clean lines are very nice and I don't have anything sticking out where it can get snagged on the subway or inside the x-ray machine. I recommend this pack with two thumbs up.
