Patagonia Friction Belt

All outdoor sports become far more difficult when your pants fall down. Even if you're in town, it can cause a seriously embarrassing scene. Hold your trousers up with the super-strong Patagonia Friction Belt, and enjoy your day with confidence, knowing your pants are secure. With a hard anodized steel buckle, you know your pants aren't going anywhere.

Bottom Line: The sagging-pants look doesn't work for the outdoors.

Snazy

I like this belt a lot. I bought the juniper green one. I enjoy that it is low profile and simple. The one size feature is fine when you think that you can run down to your gear shop or hardware store and use their hot knife to cut it down a bit. My only wish it that it was load bearing. I have taken to using a tree sling from my slack line while I am at work (at the UWF climbing wall) because a quickly made loop of another piece of webbing and I have a quick harness. Not that big a deal I suppose since I have a closet full of them when I am at work. Over all though this is a neat belt that wont get in the way bike commuting to school or wearing a harness.

Hmmmm...

In terms of what you'd want in a belt for your hiking pants, this is exactly what you'd be looking for. Its simple, and synthetic which means if you sweat, it will dry quickly and won't stain your pants like leather. Unfortunately, when you're carrying a full pack, the polyester webbing can cause a lot of friction when pressure is applied by your pack's hipbelt; enough to cut the skin. I suggest you wear your pants lower than your hipbelt level to avoid this from happening, as it can be quite annoying and painful at times.

Heh..."sans". Awesome.

I would try any camping store in your area, or any shop with a gear repair department. I know here we have a decent shop that does second hand gear and repairs, so you may want to see if there's something like that near you. Failing that give your local REI a call and see if they can just send you one. I think the closest one to you will be in Mass. though.

I use it more than I should

By:
September 3, 2009

A great belt that I use way more than I really thought that I would. So much so that I have noticed some wear to the area where it normally gets tight. At this point I can either lose a few or resolve to buy a new one in 2 years or so.

Hey All,It's the Patagonia Product Manager for Accessories here. This belt is 44.25" long end to end which fits most. You can cut and sear the end if you're on the smaller size.

Multifunctional belt

By:

This is a multifunctional belt. I like it very much. So you can use in as regular belt to adjust your trousers and use it alternatively as toolholder. Mostly I carry a knife, first aid kit and other essentials on it.

All around

Great all around belt/strap. Can hold anything you would want to carry. On your waist or on your pack. Very durable. Cut and melt the edge to your sizing.

Small and light

By:
June 15, 2009

Webbing is a little small. Not as wide as some of my other belts. Works well and is very light.
