Patagonia Footwear Thing Thong Sandal - Men's

Between their layered arch support and soft, leather uppers, the Patagonia Men's Thing Thong Sandals give you the all-day comfort you need to take advantage of summer's long daylight hours. Slip into the Thing Thong Sandals to check the surf at first light, and rush home in them to get your crew as soon as you see it breaking double overhead. A combination of 20% recycled rubber, seashell, hemp, and burlap makes these Patagonia flip-flops durable enough for several seasons of wear and gives them a natural look and feel for life next to the ocean.

Bottom Line: Stop torturing your feet in cheap flip-flops and treat them to the comfort of the Patagonia Thing Thong Sandals.

good flip flops

By:
August 23, 2009

These are solid flip flops. Once you break them in they're pretty comfortable, definitely one of the more comfortable ones I've worn. They also seem pretty durable, only complaint is I wish they were a bit gripper to the bottom of your foot itself, I sometimes feel myself sliding out of them as I walk up hill. But overall I really like 'em.

Thing Thongs-better than the usual trendy flops

By:
May 20, 2008

Patagonia got it right with these flops. Far better than the usual trendy flops that flood the market. Thing Thongs are far superior in comfort and fit, especially due to the slightly wider forefoot preventing your feet from sliding around when wet. Durability shouldn't be an issue, as with all products from Patagonia. For lovers of flip-flops, Thing Thongs are the gold at the end of the "rainbow" of trendier leather flops.

Break 'em in.

By:
July 29, 2008

After purchasing a pair of W's Fly Away flips from Patagonia, and relishing the instant buttery softness of the leather footbed as soon as I pulled them out of the box and put them on my feet, I decided to get a pair of Patagonia flops for my husband. I got a pair of black size 11 Thing Thongs, and Gabriel likes them quite a bit, now that they are broken in. The leather footbed will be much more durable than his last pair of foam Reefs, which wore right through to the pavement after many nightly dog walks. My one complaint is that the underside of the straps is not lined with leather like my Fly Aways, but coarse canvas. So don't expect to go on a long stroll on your first Thing Thong walk about - especially if you have high arches. Blisters. Ow.

Wish I returned them

By:
August 7, 2009

When I first tried them on I thought the strap was too harsh and dug into the foot. I thought they would break in after time but it has been 3 months and they have not. Now I find they are so annoying I do not wear then. I should of stayed with Reefs. I bought two pairs and my son has the same opinion of them. Thumbs down.

give it some love

By:
August 7, 2009

i absolutely love this thong all you need to do is show it some love its extremely durable so its kinda rough to break in but in the end its awsome i have never had any problems with it. One thing is when it gets wets you tend to slip around in the shoe and can be a pain some time. I have had this thong for close to 2 years and its still going strong.... plus it has a rocken graphic

nah, no good

By:
April 29, 2009

waited for them to break in, and yeah they've broken in. but that's after leaving a permanent circular scar on the top of my foot from all the chaffing. and i don't know if they were the ones that broke in, or if it was my foot that got used to the abrasive nature of the sandal. but still, when i take them off i have red diagonal lines across the top of my feet due to the rough hemp thong. i also got them wet for the first time today washing my car. i have the orange sandals and the dye they used on the sandal came off all over the bottom of my now bright orange feet. really disappointed from patagonia. no wonder they're on sale.

hope they break in

By:
April 14, 2009

wore them for the first time today, and all i can say is that i hope they break in.

like the other review says, the strap is not leather, but made out of a rough material (maybe hemp?). wore them around my college campus, and by the end of the day the top of my feet were bleeding a bit from all the chafing.

but, i have hope that these things will break in, and if they do, they will be worth 5-stars as everything else about them = wonderful. and you're doing a well-deserved favor for mother nature too.

Be careful of sizing...

By:
April 22, 2009

I really liked my purchase but the size I thought I choose was WAY off what my sneaker size is. I wear an 11.5 sneaker and since these don't come in half sizes I chose the 12. I was pretty much trying on a flipper rather than a sandal.
Anyway, they are good about returning them for a new size so I went down to an 11 which may still be too big...
