Zip up the Patagonia Women’s Fiona Parka, and enjoy the lightweight warmth and performance you get from your technical down layers in a longer, urban-styled package. Patagonia employed 800-fill down and a quilted construction to keep you warm when you’re slogging your way to the train station on sub-zero mornings. The water-repellant coating and ripstop polyester shell block moisture and abrasion, and the handwarmer pockets soothe your frosty fingers.
I ordered this jacket from another retailer as I thought it would be sufficient for the -40 windchills of Chicago, but when I received it, there was a small hole in the left shoulder already and so returned it. Good thing I did, because as I was researching for somewhere else to buy it from, I found several reviews indicating that it was too lightweight for truly cold temperatures. Which is sad, as this coat fit like a dream, looked great, and had an excellent texture. Not for Chicago, but appropriate for places that don't get much colder than the 'teens. (I tried on the Large, which fit my super-long arms and torso while allowing for a shirt and thickish cardigan underneath. I'm 5'8", 160 lbs)
I don't agree as long as your layered correctly this jacket will keep you plenty warm in the cold. My wife raved about all last winter...here in Boston.
My wife LOVE this super lightweight jacket; much better than jackets from North Face in terms of style and performance. She has no complaint even in -20F temperature. The only problem is the down tended to come out between seams once a while! It may need to send back to Patagonia for down refilling after several years of use.
I was told that a 800 fill jacket would be warmer than the North Face that is 600 fill, what do you think? I live in Canada that experiences extreme cold weather, I need the warmest coat.
A given weight of 800 fill will loft more than the same weight of 600 fill, and thus be warmer. This jacket is not a heavy jacket at all, so it won't be warm enough for extreme cold.
We were at our local outdoors store when my wife stumbled upon this jacket. She tried it on and fell in love! I didn't purchase it on the spot because of the price. Two weeks later I was on this website and saw they had it marked 20% off. My wife loves this jacket, yesterday it was 20 degrees outside, she took the dog for a walk, came back and said she never once got cold. This jacket is very thin, but keeps you oh so warm. Don't let the price stop you from buying this jacket, you will not regret it!
Love that this jacket is so incredibly lightweight. On some days, it can be used as a coat, not super warm for really cold days on it's own. A great inner layer with a trench coat, etc. Fine construction, really tight ripstop fabric and pretty stylish. I found the chest to be a little fuller than I would have liked, it sometimes "rides up" in the middle. Overall a stylish and unique item, loved my shopping experience with BACKCOUNTRY too.
Looks like the high-fashion coats New Yorkers wear...with MUCH less bulk and much more warmth! Sleeker than the Michelin Man variety and machine washable...a perfect combination. And the inside pocket for when you only want to carry a wallet...and it doesn't take an extra seat at the movie theatre or on a bus!
Write your question here... Hi I have two questions : Does this garment have a hood? I have the 600 fill and am wondering if this is significantly warmer? Thanks much.
I love this coat. It is slim fitting and stylish, although not super warm for temps below, say, 10-15 degrees. I'm glad I tried it on in person at a store as I would have ordered a small and I definitely needed a medium, even though I usually wear a 4-6 in regular clothes. I was a bit scared off by the price but bit the bullet when I saw it for 20% off at Backcountry. Well worth it.
Has anyone ever dreamed of a down coat that is figure flattering--this is it! When zipped it has a curvy figure, when unzipped it floats along beside you. I love this coat!
I wore my new coat today in a snow storm in Chicago (with windchill, around 10 degrees and very windy) and felt snug as a bug. I love Patagonia's down sweater and wanted something just as light and compressible but in coat form, and the Fiona fits the bill. The Fiona is different from the down sweater in a couple of respects. First, the fit is completely different: while the down sweater is boxy and roomy, the Fiona is more fitted and lean. I am 5'2", 115 lbs and fit comfortably in an XS, but I probably can only fit an R2 underneath it; anything more would render the shoulders kind of tight. Secondly, the Fiona appears to be designed as an urban, "fashion" coat as compared to the down sweater's often more sportive, technical use (I use the down sweater as a mid-layer for hiking, camping and skiing, while I envision the Fiona as more useful while wandering about the city). For example, the Fiona does not have the down sweater's built-in compression sack pocket that is so useful for packing. The Chantarelle is a great color - kind of a grayish cream color that looks great against black.
I like to give credit where credit is due. I've always loved all the Patagonia clothing I've purchased. This coat is no different. I bought this for my girlfriend who is a flight attendant in Alaska. She wears it as her winter coat and loves it. It can also be worn out on a night on the town. Its very stylish, sexy, and yet practical and very warm and light in weight. I wanted to give thumbs up to Backcountry too... I ordered this coat online-it was on sale (Patagonia never goes on sale) and had it (during the Christmas season) in only a few days (and I live in Alaska). I've ordered other things from Backcountry and have the same great service. I am really picky with shopping online and I really like doing business with companies that provide great products, quickly and have great customer service-Backcountry is one company I will continue to business with over and over. Thanks for a great product and great customer service.
Thought this one deserved it. I find that my wardrobe is split between practical technical gear and fashionable impractical pieces. This parka bridges the gap. Beautiful lines and great quality insulation.
I was worried about the fit from other reviews I read, but ordered my usual size and fits perfectly.
Also, hats off to Backcountry.com too. Super quick shipping (even during holiday rush) and great 20% off deal.
