Patagonia Downtown Loft Down Jacket - Women's

For urban adventures during winter, slip on the Patagonia Women’s Downtown Loft Jacket. This goose-down coat surrounds you in soft, puffy goodness so you stay toasty in Chicago, New York, or Denver. The Downtown Loft’s satiny shell sheds light precipitation and blocks the wind. The below-the-hip length, contoured cut, and shawl collar give the Downtown chic style that fits in uptown or mountain town too.

Bottom Line: Stay warm in any town.

Roxanne, the hood for the Downtown Loft Park is not removable. If you're looking for a removable hood in a long down coat check out the Patagonia Down With It jacket

Warm sleek jacket

By:
November 16, 2009

This jacket runs small. I can usually get a small jacket and still have plenty of room for layers underneath, but this jacket in a small was extremely snug. If I gained 5lb I wouldn't be able to zip it up. So I exchanged it for a medium (excellent customer service, very easy and fast) and it fits much better. We haven't reached the chilly winter temperatures yet, but there have been some days where it has gotten cold and I've been able to wear it. The inside of the cuffs and the inside of the pockets have a really soft and cozy fleece like lining that kept my hands really warm. The pocket zippers are made so they are hidden when zipped up. You can't even tell they are there so it is a very sleek jacket. I like how the hood snaps over the neck so I don't get a cold draft. The jacket has a nice length. It sits several inches below my hips to keep in warmth without looking like a trench coat. The pictures make the material look kind of shiny, but it really isn't. The buttons are the only thing that have room for improvement. They are plastic, small and are very tight. Maybe with wear they will loosen up. I just feel like when I pry them apart I am going to rip the material. Hasn't happened yet though. I also noticed it does not have ties to tighten the hood around your face, so you do have to hold it on in wind and you do get a draft around your face. I had tried the Destiny Down, the Transit and a couple others and I felt this one was just right for length, hood, water repellent, warmth and such. I had a rain shower and the water just beaded up on the jacket. It didn't soak in which was a concern of mine. I am very pleased with this jacket.

Write your question here...I like the style of this coat too but do you have any with fur on the hood and is this really a warm coat in the winter and whats the lowest degree that this coat can tolerate?

Michelle, unfortunately none of the Patagonia jackets have fur on them right now. The Downtown Loft Jacket is super warm and I think you'd be good into the low 30's with a light layer underneath and even colder with a fleece or a sweater.
