The Patagonia Women's Down Vest provides copious core insulation. If you don't like the bulk of a full-on down jacket or sweater, choose this vest as your insulating ally. Revised for this season, this vest features improved shaping and quilting for a less burly and more girly look. Even the handwarmer pockets are hidden by invisible zippers. There's a knit lining at the neck for comfort as you zip the vest for full thermal effect, and the lining is super-supple, enough so to be worn next-to-skin. The carefully-chosen goose down will last through many a compression, and you get an interior stash pocket for stashing things that need stashing.
Bottom Line: Get down, or get ready for a trying trip.
This vest is so flattering! The lines are pretty, and the shape works really well on my curvy figure. It's also quite low profile, so works really well as a base layer. If you are having a hard time finding a down vest with a snug fit, this is the one. The princess seams hug your curves, and and puffy down is SO warm! Love it!
I bought the coat originally but the arms were monkey-long and it just bugged me too much. Hey, I said, why not the vest? It's exactly the same curvacious design but...arms free. I got the shoreline, it's really flattering. My daughter coveted it so I got her the beetroot. I have to say, that is a dicier color; it looked really bad on me because my hair's sort of reddish brown, but she's blonde and it's a kicker on her. She's 13; whenever she desires my clothing it's the ultimate compliment.
Well, i love Patagonia and I thought I would love this vest. Quality is great but the fit was off - too short and wide at the bottom, like a bell. The fit at the shoulders and chest was good, maybe even a bit snug. The fabric felt stiff and not that cozy. I found the hand pockets too shallow. I usually wear a Small or Medium, and I got this in Small because a wanted a close fit. It's definitely a fitted cut, which either works for your frame or not. I could have gone up a size but then it would have been too wide and gappy around the waist. Had to send it back, sadly. I like the Mountain Hardware Downtowner vest for a longer cut - it also fits pretty small, though.
This vest was pricier than the generic ones you can find in places like LLBean, but you are paying for quality - fleece lining at the neck, a flattering fit, nice color and loft....it's a vest that you will wear for a long time and that will last.
I ordered this vest to compare it with The North Face children's down vest. Which is a GREAT deal if you're a petite woman. I liked the Patagonia. I love their environmental commitment and try to buy everything from them BUT The North Face looked more slimming so that's what I bought.
I love this vest! It's perfect for layering under a puffy jacket or even a dressier coat. It keeps me toasty warm and has made a vast difference in preventing the wind from freezing my core.
I like the vest, it fits well, and keeps me very warm. It is already starting to lose feathers in many places, but I think that is to be expected. Also, is it really supposed to fit in the little bag that came with it? Because it doesn't seem to. Otherwise, it travels well and is quite compact (besides not being able to fit in a ~4 x 6in bag;)).
My daughter loves her black vest size L. I thought I would fit a down vest M, but no. We are returning that along with both her kiki sweaters. She does not like them, it could be her age (just 14.) If I was still skiing I would wear them. I have MS and stopped skiing 19 years ago.
Tricky sizing. I was on the fence between ordering an S or a M. If you have doubt, go small. The vest was HUGE compared to my body, almost bell-shaped, although it did fit around the chest. It was also much too long for my torso. Returned it for a S, which fits much better overall, although snug in the chest.
I am very happy with my vest! - Great color (the agate green - true to the picture) and fit - yes it is shortish and sits just at the top of my hips (I am 174cm and got a large) but I like that and looks good - flattering fit and not too puffy! Toasty warm and coming from Tasmania (Australia) get lots of comments from everyone wanting to know where I got it from and how nice it is. Definitely recommend Patagonia gear, and arrived in only 5 days!
I really wanted this vest to fit great, but as many others have said it is definitely short. I pretty much only buy Patagonia outerwear and usually never have any troubles with the fit. I ordered a large and it fit great except in the length. So I ordered the vest in a mens medium and it fits perfect and I love it.
i ordered this in the blue, which looked on screen like a nice, muted gray-blue. But it's really a garrish electric blue--ick! Fit was good, though. I'm a small (5'4" and about 125 lbs) and it fit well.
