Patagonia Capilene Midweight Zip Tee L/S - Men's - 2006
Patagonia's Capilene Midweight Long Sleeve Zip shirt is the ideal layering option. We like this zip top because - well - you can zip and unzip. Wear this for moderate aerobic activity in cool weather or under alpine shells or foul-weather gear. You'll want to wear it every day!
Bottom Line: Zipping is fun, but playing outside in sublime comfort is even better.
This Capilene shirt was great for a camp shirt after a long day of hiking and when temps start to drop. It was the only layer I needed for cooler evenings/mornings when the temps were in the 50s. It dried extremely fast, fits great, and was comfortable to wear. The zippered front was an added bonus to regulate my body temp.
There's magic in this shirt. I walk for exercise, and in cool weather, the combination of profuse sweating and cool breezes can take much of the fun out of a brisk walk. The Patagonia Capilene keeps me toasty and dry, the long collar reaching nicely up the back of my neck. The midweight fabric seems to be just right for a wide range of cool weather conditions, and the deep venting zipper provides a useful adjustment as temperatures rise. The subtle Patagonia logo on the chest adds just enough style, so that I can wear this shirt in town and not feel like a complete klutz. I've just ordered a third in a different color, so I can prove to my wife that I'm not wearing the same shirt all week.
Great for insulation, layering... and looks good, too. I like the ability to open and close the neck.... an advantage in cold weather activity that crew and turtle-necks don't offer.
Wore it to the top of Mt. Rainier. It dried so fast and yet kept me warm all the time. For a all-around base layer with such a reasonable price, there is no substitute.
Great product, great cCut, as always you can't go wrong with Patagonia, I have been using the same product since the beginning. There is no visible wear-out even after many washes.
There is just nothing better than Patagonia's Capilene for outdoor exercise in variable conditions. It wicks, is easy to clean, durable (I've washed mine 150x so far and it still looks brand-new), and the zip-up/down neck makes temperature control a cinch!
This stuff is very good for weather varying from 75F to 48F. I fished with waders and just the long underwear tops with a light scrub suit over those. When weather got colder, I added Polarmax over those and stayed comfortable.
This particular shirt was a gift for someone else, but I've got a Patagonia midweight Zip Tee of my own which I love dearly. Wonderful fit, incredibly durable (like everything Patagonia I've ever owned), exceptionally adaptable, very well made. My experience has been that Patagonia products are worth every penny it takes to pick them up.
This shirt is extremely comfortable, partially due to the soft capilene, but also due to its ability to manage my body temperature. I was walking a trail in the sun at 65 degrees and sitting around, playing cards at 25 degrees and I felt no difference in temperature. This is a great item.
These Capilene shirts are great. They breathe very well in warm temps and keep the body warm when skiing in the winter. I like the fit extremely well; however, the collar loosely stands when the shirt is zipped making the shirt look strange sometimes. Other than that, these are overall great shirts.
The material is great, but the shirt did not fit how I would have liked. It was fine on the length but large around the midsection. I had purchased a medium previously that was too tight. The large is like a military sleep shirt.
I've had mine for about three years now and it's still holding up great. It keeps me warm whether I'm rowing, skiing, sailing, or just hanging out. Works great with a wicking T underneath down to between 35 and 40 degrees if you're working hard and keeps you dry when you sweat. It's very breathable, but that works two ways, so throw on a wind-stopping layer if there's a heavy breeze.
