Patagonia Capilene 4 Bottom - Men's

The highly insulating Patagonia Men's Capilene 4 Bottoms are made for very cold conditions. When the mercury keeps dropping, but you're not changing your plans for that Nordic ski tour or afternoon of ice climbing, wear the Capilene 4 Bottoms. The fabric stretches for easy moving, and the contoured fit moves comfortably under your hardshell pants.

Bottom Line: Stay warm in arctic temps with the Patagonia Capilene 4 Bottoms.

Windy City Wear

I purchased a couple pair to brave the cold winds of Chicago. I was concerned about my knees getting cold and stiff. The fit is very comfortable; there is no cinching in the waist, cutting up the crotch, or itching. They are very comfortable indoors and outdoors. I did not even feel the Chicago winds!

Not as warm as I thought

By:
January 23, 2007

Fit: 6-4; 235; 36 inch waist. 35/36 inch inseam. XL fit pretty well. A little looser than I wanted, but I have a feeling the small would've been too tight in the thighs and butt.

Performance: Not as absolutely warm during periods of inactivity as I was hoping for. My first experience with Capilene. Seems better suited to active pursuits. I wore it beneath a pair of shorts for a run on a 30 degree morning and was fine - warm and dry. I wore it beneath a heavy overalls and jeans on a few 15 degree nights where it was stop and go at work and froze when I wasn't laboring.

perfect for cold weather

By:
February 4, 2008

I wore these to work when the temps dropped well below zero. I was working in an unheated house for a week and my legs were kept warm with the cap 4s. These grunders are maybe 5 years old now but look and perform like they were new

overall the polartec would be a little warmer, Capilene 4 however is lighter and more packable. It layers very well, and will provide a good combo of warmth and moisture management for high activity sports

Not too much warmer then cap3

By:
December 29, 2008

these pants are high quality, they however are not that much warmer then capilene 3 pants. If you are looking for a very warm baselayer pant look elsewhere.

Love my Capilene

By:
December 11, 2006

I am a sucker for capilene, maybe because everytime I use it I like it even more. Very warm and comfortable. Breathes better then the average long underwear. Fits very true to size.

Great base layer

By:
November 26, 2008

Stayed nice and warm with the capilene and a north face bib overalls for skiing. It was about 25-30 degrees and was perfect. For colder temps I would probably add another layer to be safe when riding cold lifts. Also they were dry after a long day pushing it.

Capilene 4 Bottoms - Men's

By: Backcountry.com Employee

The capline 4 bottoms are just the trick for skiing, hiking, or kickin' around a cold house. These pants dry quickly and move with you beneath any layers, from shell pants to Carharts.
