Whether you hike in desert heat or trail run in a temperate rainforest, the Patagonia Men's Capilene 2 Short-Sleeve T-Shirt will keep you dry and cool. This wicking T-shirt features a basketweave knit that provides maximum breathability, so you don't feel clammy when you work hard. Plus, this weave provides insulation, so you won't get the chills when you take a break in the shade. Flat, out-of-the-way seams on this contour-fit tee eliminate chafing and prevent this shirt from rubbing under pack belts. Patagonia's natural odor-control finish keeps you from smelling sweaty.
Bottom Line: Wear Patagonia's Capilene 2 T-Shirt to stay dry and cool when you play outdoors.
Super lightweight and one snag on a branch or thorn and you have problems. Does not boast the normal patagonia quality/durability. This is the right shirt if you are 100% focused on lightweight/breath-ability. I have very little to no faith in this shirt holding up under the weight and abrasions of a fully loaded backpack
This is a great lightweight shirt that breathes well, and wicks sweat/moisture away from your skin, keeping you dry and comfortable. Not as good at odor retention as the wool series, which is the only reason it gets 4 instead of a 5. All in all, great for warm to medium temperature activities.
a little thicker than the cap 1 (duh) and i thought a lot less comfortable. i bought a bunch of these tech tees and this was not my favorite. fit pretty well as an xl, usually i take an xxl - 6'4 230 w a 47 chest. i didn't sweat in it at all, so i can't attest to it's wicking/drying ability. it wasn't comfortable enough for me to even wear it to the gym, i sent it back
Nice base layer shirt. Wore it while carrying a 30-pound pack on and no signs of ware on the shirt. The shirt, combined with my Atmos 65 pack kept me dry even though the sun was pounding us for most of the day. Shirt is super thin, can't wait to wear it in the summer time.
I've used these for pretty much every warm-weather pursuit for the last five years. I chose them over the Cap 1 and other poly shirts because their weave is more breathable (and dries almost immediately), is a little warmer in chilly mornings, and I just like the feel of the weave more than the slick feel you get in other poly shirts. I love the seam placement - they never bother me under a pack. But... the whole "they don't smell" thing is a load of bull. I can get mine stinking in under an hour. Maybe I have exceptionally strong BO (I like to think of it as natural pheromones - ladies hit me up!), but they are rank! I'm gradually switching over to wool so my partners will stop hating me.
This shirt is lightweight and dries quickly. Extremely comfortable on hikes, rides, at the gym, or just casual. The slimmer fit is great. I'm 5'9", 150, lean build and the small fits perfectly. The only downside is it will smell bad after you sweat in it.
I think its a pretty good shirt that has been keeping me pretty comfortable on training hikes in 100 degree temps without any problems. Dries fast and has good breathability, but like all synthetics, it can get a bit smelly...
For the longest time i ran in cotton, then i transitioned into synthetics. For the longest time i've run in synthetics. Much to my dismay, i went through about 12 different types of shirts until i came across this gem. Patagonia's Capiline 2 fits close but not tight. I've never had it play "suction cup" with my skin, and it wicks like nobody's business. The only downside is the potential tearing that can occur when worn with a backpack for very long periods of time.
Regardless, this piece (and it's long sleeved, zip-necked brother) are my go to pieces for distance runs, tele skiing, mountaineering, and fishing.
It is not reccomended that you don this piece while rocking NASCAR shades, a male pony tale, ultra-lightweight cargo shorts, or any combination of the three. Especially if you step out of a Land Cruiser. Don't disrespect the Cap 2 tee, and don't forget to recycle it when it is over and done.
