The Patagonia Capilene 1 T-Shirt lets you keep your cool when you exert in hot weather. Wear this silky feeling athletic-fit T-Shirt alone when you run, hike, bike, or climb—breathable Capilene fabric wicks your sweat away from your body so you stay dry and comfortable. In cooler weather, wear this wicking tee as a base layer so you don't get swampy underneath your lightweight jacket. Patagonia treated this crewneck tee with Gladiodor odor control so you won't reek, even after a long, sweaty trail run.
Bottom Line: Wear your Patagonia 1 T-Shirt on the trail, road, or climbing route on any hot day.
i have to agree, the best workout shirt i've ever owned. i've run the deserts of utah, the humid monsoon appalachian trail, the muggy cascades and these t-shirts do it all. they fit great. they wick moisture in all conditions and climates. perfect for a base layer when it's cold. it's a home run of a product really. i can't have too many of them.
the only knock is sometimes the material near areas of wear or rub get
I buy this shirt to use as a race shirt. When it's hot this is the shirt you should be wearing. It holds but nicely to the abuse of running for miles with a pack on.
I bought this shirt specifically to see if the synthetic odor controls have gotten better and could compete with wool yet. The answer was a quick NO. I still like the shirt for all the other reasons people mention, but only if I am only going to wear it for an hour or two and then it goes into the wash - otherwise it starts to stink.
Gladiodor works really well in the Capilene 1 T and other Patagonia Capilene tops and bottoms. It stays noticeably less stinky that my other polypro shirts I've got.
I live in the deep south and unless you enjoy being wet with sweat most of the time ( May thru Oct ), you better be wearing something that wicks. I have used the Patagonia Cap One for about two months and it works great ( I always had to strip my cotton shirt off soaked after a hour of intense work and deal with sunburn at night). I will update my review after summer. Thanks to this website company- you have great employees and service. Sweat no more or a lot less........
All the Patagonia Capilene performance T-shirts are wonderful, I prefer the Capilene 1 for it's soft silkiest material. It's very comfortable, breathable, dries sweat fast and is perfect on hot days or as a base layer in the winter or fall, works well for any endeavor even if if your kicking back.
I have six of the Patagonia Capilene 1 Black Large shirts. Now I will not wear any other shirt. I've been wearing them every day for two months plus and I'm wearing one now. Any condition. Dry. Under warmer layers, warm. It's hot here in the NM desert, and I'm cool. Great in the mountains also. Best of all, chicks just can't get enough of me after my Backcountry shorts and esp. this shirt.
not a bad tech shirt, but not anything special. it works fine, but i think it is overpriced for an undershirt, which would be the way i primarily use it. too form fitting for me to wear to the gym
Super lightweight and comfortable shirt. The silk weight is perfect for hot weather activities and for layering in colder weather. No need for anything else here.
This shirt is tops! The only baselayer that ever came close was the Golite LW C-Thru from a few years back. Cap-1 is much more durable and less prone to snagging the forest as it flys by. I live on O'ahu and run the rainforest, which means all out wet, windy and cool (chronic hypothermia kine weather)or hot, still and humid (Think Kona winds). Most days are some of each. This shirt allows me to continue without having to carry surplusage. The updated fit is a great improvement and will keep your purchase from becoming an 70s-80s half-shirt after a few washings. Yes, even plastic fibers can shrink. Probably best to hang dry. Despite the latest technologies and claims this shirt will eventually begin to smell abit like the dog blanket. Still yet, it is my staple shirt!
Flat-out these are the best workout shirts that exist. They breathe and wick better than anything I have ever tried, even merino (although they still get quite stinky after use!). I live in Georgia and in the summer heat/humidity your activities are limited - the best thing I can say about this shirt is that they enable me to work harder, longer. Plus the fit is like it was made for my tall lanky self - in other words, perfect. If you see them for $20-$25, don't think - just buy. You will get more than your money's worth.
Good for hot weather, or as a base layer in the cold. It's definitely a workout shirt. Fits well. Patagonia has lengthened their performance wear over the last couple of years. Their capilene used to be a half shirt on me due to a long torso.
I have the long sleeve version + am pretty happy w/ everything but the smell that eventually creeps up late in the day despite the measures patagonia has taken. This minor setback that I probably would have accepted if I had not had the pleasure of owning a Wool 1 layer from patagonia.
The long sleeve is still my go to for cool morning runs b/c its so comfortable + great at wicking.
The fit of this shirt is great. I'm 6'3", 190, and shirts that are long enough are typically as big as parachutes around my torso, but this has a nice fit cut; a large is plenty long and not too baggy. Very comfortable as well; I don't notice it when I'm working out which is the best compliment I can give it. Form and function are both great.
Whenever its hot in the summer this is one of my top choices to wear. It is form fitting and has a little extra length to it which is nice for sports like biking. I also like it because the sleeves are short so they don't get in the way of your activities.
I bought this for those summer hikes that are scorchers, and its great. Wicks great and helps wonders to keep me cool. Also, great to wear for everyday use. Love the shirt, plan on buying more.
Capilene has come a long way and I'm glad I trusted the Patagonia brand and picked up this shirt. I've used it for trail running and hiking and found it to wick sweat very well and it dries surprisingly quick. It breathes well despite the hot temps and the fit is pretty true to size for performance shirts. If you're on the fence between sizes I'd recommend sizing down for a more trim but still comfortable fit vs. some brands whose shirts look and feel painted on when sizing down.
The Capilene 1 Tee seem too be quick to wick and fast to dry. And Patagonia's silky-soft Capilene 1 T-Shirt was good to wears well beneath layers on cooler days.
Love the shirt. It wears great and is very easy to maintain. I happen to be a freak for black shirts, which is the color I purchased. The only future request I would have for the designers, would be to make the stiching the same black color instead of the white now currently used.
