Patagonia made the Women’s Amaia Dress with gauzy-light organic cotton, so you’ll hardly feel like you have anything on. I think it depends how tall you are. I am 5'10" and this is a few inches above my knees. If you are shorter, it would probably be about knee length.

This is my favorite dress I own-BY FAR. I have the blue flowery print one which is very pretty. The fabric is very light and airy so it is great for hot weather. The cut is adorable and very flattering: fitted in the bust, but the fabric skims right over the midsection and flares out at the bottom. Cute cute cute. Every time I wear this, I get all kinds of compliments and people wondering where I got it.

I'm usually a small, typically between a 4-6 in jeans. I went for the 6 in this dress and it fits nicely. I might have fit the 4, since the straps are a little roomy for me (I'm smaller on top), but 6 fits well enough that I'm not returning it. Its fairly slim-fitting, but wraps around in front as well. I love it!
