The body-hugging, wicking Patagonia Women's Active Boy Shorts keep your sassy side covered. With a low-rise cut and functional fabric, the Boy Shorts go just as easily under yoga pants as your favorite jeans. Spandex in these undies mean they move with you as you walk around town or hike the mountain trail.
Bottom Line: The Patagonia Active Boy Shorts are the undies of choice for girls who never grew out of their tomboy phase.
I have these and the Under Armour boy shorts, and these are quickly becoming my favorites. They seem to breathe better and don't get quite as hot. I don't have a problem with them migrating north on me like some of the other reviewers. The fabric is very soft and stretches just enough, but not too much. They machine wash and dry well, too. And it doesn't hurt that they're pretty cute on. I'm very happy with them and would buy them again.
Not the best boy shorts ever made but they are comfortable and cute. Not as breathable as other choices, maybe just because of the boy short cut. Would definitely not wear for running, not breathable enough, but great for climbing. I wore them on a trip to Bishop and never thought about them. Good for sleeping in. Plus, I like the print, the fit, and the fabric for everyday wear. I wear size 4/6 and got a small, fits well.
I wear these for skiing. Seem to be fine under my thermals. Don't seem to have the riding up problem but I do think they could be a bit higher in the back-or maybe I have a bit more junk in the trunk than some of these other gals that have posted! Oh well, I like my bum warm when skiing and these do the job!
I almost never wear any other type of underpants. These are perfect for ensuring modesty under a skirt. They don't ride up for me, except when I'm wearing extra-tight pants. They are essentially perfect.
I think Patagonia missed the mark on this one. While they look cool, the fabric is too loose around the legs, as well as too short, so the underwear tends to ride up. I've spoken to friends (even those with small butts) and they experience the same problem.
Active should not be in the name of these undies. Like the other reviewers said, once you start to move, the undies ride up uncomfortably. The legs need to be a bit longer to hold the shorts down.
I didn't have any problems with riding, as other users experienced. In fact, I wore these on a 36km trek and don't think I once had to think about them. Maybe it helped that I sized on the smaller side? The fabric is a little heavy for summer weather, but I'm sure I'll love them for skiing and alpine touring.
They're a little bigger than I thought and ride up a bit when I run, but I still like them, especially since I wear spandex underneath and it doesn't really matter if they ride up a little.
I bought these to wear on a thru-hike, thinking they'd be less revealing whilst changing in crowded shelters. They do wick moisture nicely, but they constantly ride up. I've tried different sizes, different activities, different outer wear. Nothing helps. The minute I move, so do they.
Props to Patagonia for understanding that outdoor women want their underwear functional AND cute! These boy shorts stayed put on me under my hiking shorts. I didn't have any trouble with them riding up until I wore them with a tight pair of jeans.
I love the Patagonia Boy Shorts! I'm a size 4 in bottoms & the size Small fits perfectly. I have been super active this summer & my legs are well toned & these shorts do not ride up at all; now, when I was heavier & not in such great shape, I found the shorts did ride up a bit. I like wearing them under a skirt while hiking or riding my bike around town (they have a gusseted crotch) or as PJ bottoms on hot summer nights.
