Patagonia Active Boxer Brief - Men's

Patagonia reduces relative humidity in your shorts with the Men's Active Boxer Brief. These boxer briefs feature wicking Capilene fabric that moves moisture and heat away from your skin, so you don't overheat. Trail running, climbing, and backcountry skiing all become more comfortable in Patagonia's fitted boxers. With its smooth surface, Capilene won't bunch or ride up, and this underwear works wonders under hiking shorts or even suit pants.

Bottom Line: Control your climate with the Patagonia Active Boxer Brief.

Perfect fit. Very comfortable. More affordable then other others such as Smart Wool. Purchased a second pair because I liked them so much.

Ok, let's face it; while many think its simply gross many

Ok, let's face it; while many think its simply gross many of us guys go commando. I have been f433b@11in for many years. Recently, however, I have been contemplating on getting me a pair of boxers like these. Since it seems after many reviews of various brands that these are the recommended best my only question is this...is it like cramming your three friends in a Honda CRX or a luxury Civic? Please, any quick advice on this would be greatly appreciated cuz I'd like to order some pretty soon for a thru hike. I can deal with returning insoles even, but I don't think I'd want to be on the recieving end of anyone's skivvy returns, lol!

thanks in advance!

These aren't especially tight at all, ended up being more like boxers than boxer briefs

If you are worried about cramming the boys into something so tight you will need a can opener to use the bathroom, I would look to a model/brand that uses two different fabrics. Some brands use a more relaxed material around the family jewels so they are not so compressed. This gives you the best of both worlds, underwear that won't ride up and some room for the boys.

Meh...

By:
April 20, 2009

To be honest, these are OK. I have tried just about every pair of non-cotton boxer brief on the market, and while these may come in third place, the Ex Officios and Under Armour BoxerJocks are both far superior to these in comfort and performance.

Simply perfect

By:
January 26, 2009

I have used this pair of underwear for everything--working out, indoor soccer, skiing, day hiking, backpacking, running, and playing cello in a tuxedo (it gets hotter than you might think). In every situation and in every condition, these bad boys have kept me dry as a bone. Beautiful.

how do these do with odor? I am planning on going on a week long hiking trip and do not want to take many clothes.

well, my friend, I can say that these will smell. I used them on my Appalachian Trail thru-hike where I would go a week or two without washing my clothes. These were my camp boxers, so I didn't wear them while hiking, but after a while they start to smell. The great thing about them is they are incredibly easy to rinse out in a river -- and then you're golden!

I have not worn these in particular, but the 'new' Capiline (Cap 1, 2, 3) resists odor much better than the older stuff (silkweight, lightweight, midweight).

(sorry it's not a great answer, but i figured some info was better than none)

My girlfriend can buy these for my Bday every year

By:
July 23, 2007

Seriously, I might not have to wash them till then! (Please don't tell her!)

I don't even think I yelled at a cabbie all week. At night I can wash them in the bathroom and they're dry by morning, if I'm not feeling too lazy.

Amazing!

The only problem is that my friends are sick with hearing how great my underwear is.

OMG So Comfortable

By:
March 11, 2008

The Patagonia Active Boxer Briefs are absolutely The Best, so light and dare I say.....Sexy, yes my wife loves them too:-0
Great in the Las Vegas heat and so easy to dry, they do not ride up and no chaffing in the nether regions if you know what I mean?
The price is a little on the higher side compared to other makes out there, but for what you get they are well worth it. I loved them so much I have thrown out my Calvin Kleins and replaced them with these undies.

Form Fitting

By:
March 2, 2009

I love these for their small form factor, (as in they do not take up a lot of space in your stuff sacks etc.). They fit very well, although I have two pair both the same size, and they fit differently, odd. I've worn these for century cycle rides (dont ask), trail running and backpacking, love em..(and they do a good job avoiding the stank that other capilene products seem to pick up).

form fitting

By:
March 2, 2009

I have two different pairs both of the same size and they dont fit the same. However I do prefer how they fit for hours of walking/running at a time. I've even worn these under cycling shorts ( I dont know why ) and was very happy with them. I like that they are light and have a small form-factor in your diddy/pack bags, much better then the REI MTS layers..

Uncommon

By:
October 31, 2007

The Patagonia Active Boxer Briefs are absolutely The Best. The fit is incredibly comfortable and ultra lightweight. This (Capilene 2?) is warm yet cool, soft and stretches with your moves. These are boxers that you'll wear year-rond. They are also just phenomenal for trail running. If you have Capilene 1 or Capilene silkweight boxers you know that these may be washed in a bathroom sink, hang to dry, and are ready to wear in a very short time. Unlike the Capilene boxers, these will not ride-up. There is no excessive fabric to bunch-up under your trousers. Bottom Line: hands-down the best. The search is over.

the standard

By:
January 29, 2009

not the most comfortable but Patagonia is very consistent with its product. it works just as it is advertised, wicking, breathing, and quick drying. My only issue with it is that the material can be better. Overall, these briefs are made well and performs.

The best underwear, period.

By:
August 10, 2007

I've tried wicking underwear from REI, Ex Officio, Mtn Hardwear, Smartwool, etc., and these are the best hands down. Great fit, lightweight, very breathable, dry super fast, control odor, do not bunch up while hiking, and top notch overall comfort.

Good Product

By:
November 17, 2006

Overall comfortable and don't smell even after several days use in sweaty conditions. The tendency to ride up a bit at times is the only negative aspect.

The best boxers out there

By:
August 6, 2008

The Patagonia Active Boxer Briefs are the best out there. A little expensive, work on the price and I will buy more (had gift certificate) but they are so comfortable and take care of wicking away / quick dry with respect to moisture. No more chaffing in those hot & sweaty situations! Good support, not too tight and super comfortable. Fit is true to size, so just use the size chart and you'll be all good! Roll back the price a bit and I will buy more !

All I wear.

By: Backcountry.com Employee
September 16, 2008

Well, I do wear clothes over them...occasionally. Seriously though, these are the only kind in my drawer, and I used to be a Brooks Bros. boxer man so you know I'm no fool. No bunching, never clammy in the summer or cold in winter, and the new Gladiodor finish is no joke. I have some un-treated ones from before and it makes a HUGE difference.
