Package Black Diamond Avalanche Package - 2005
The Black Diamond factory is located just miles from one of the most avalanche prone locations on earth, the Wasatch Front. This far western edge of the Rocky Mountains is defined by steep peaks, heavy snowfall and an over abundance of natural and human triggered avalanches. In this terrain Black Diamond has developed their avalanche equipment. Two of these backcountry essentials are no strangers to snowbound travelers, the Tele Lynx shovel and QuickDraw 190 probe. A piece of gear that is fast becoming an out of bounds favorite is the Avalung II. Allowing you to inhale more oxygen while under the snow, the Avalung II gives you valuable time when buried in the backcountry. Please remember, it is not enough to just carry this package of avalanche gear with you. Everyone in your group must learn how to use it and know the local conditions before you go.
Items Contained in This Package:
The Black Diamond AvaLung II is much smaller and economically priced than the original which leaves you no excuse not to wear one. The AvaLung II has proven itself in both medically supervised burial tests and in actual field use, but is not a substitute for sound knowledge and other backcountry safety tools.
The Black Diamond Tele Lynx Shovel is ideal for that person who wants a low-bulk, low-profile shovel that can actually dig someone out of set up snow. Such is BD's smallest avy shovel they make, the Tele Lynx.
Bottom Line: Get this gear and learn how to use it before you head out of bounds.
Talk shop with all the gear freaks out there: ask 'em questions, upload/browse photos, and give your 2¢.
