Petzl Tibloc Ultralight Ascender - 2006

Petzl Tibloc Ultra light Ascender is a small rope clamp for emergencies. The Tibloc will stand-in for many rope clamps/grabs as well as self-jamming knots. It can be used to set up a pulley system, climb a rope, or haul a second. At just 39 grams the Tibloc should be in the emergency kit of everyone who plans a vertical adventure. For use on single ropes from 8 to 11 mm.

good gadget

Used the Tibloc last month on a couple of tough lips and to rebelay doing some muli-drop wetsuit caves in Alabama. Rated a 4, a little awkward puting it on the rope while hanging in a waterfall. But other than that it worked great!

Replace your prussics with these

These things make rescue situations run much smoother. Way faster and easier to use than a prussic, plus it’s automatically self-minding in crevasse rescue situations. If you’re traveling as a team of two, replace your prussics with these and single-person crevasse rescue will go from nearly impossible to pretty simple. Also very useful for light hauling on a long trad route or light aid lines.
