POC Armor Torso Jacket - 2008

The POC Torso Armor Jacket gives you full upper body protection without sacrificing range of motion, comfort, and ventilation. Made of vented, injected polypropylene backed by shock absorbing multi-impact EPP, POC’s integrated Spine Ergo back protector literally makes up the backbone of this jacket. POC added overlapping ventilated shoulder plates, highly flexible viscoelastic elbow pads, and cut-resistant Aramid paneling in exposed torso areas for total coverage. The stretch mesh base material ensures a snug but unrestrictive fit and the tapered hook-and-loop waist belt adjusts for maximum stability and lower back support.

Bottom Line: Protect your upper body without feeling like an NFL linebacker on skis.

What is the sizing of these jackets? I went to Surefoot and they only had a Large, which was pretty big/loose. I am a 38" chest and wear small and medium. If I am going to put this over an Under Armour cold weather long sleeve, should I get the XS/S or a Medium?

So late last year I separated my shoulder... Big time!!! I was wondering if these pads would prevent this from happening in the future cause I can't wait to get back out there!

They will help cushion the impact if you take a direct hit to your shoulder, but in no way would they absolutely prevent a shoulder dislocation from ever happening again.

So i'm just wondering how effective this armor is in back protection compared to the regular cheaper back protection. I've broken my pelvis in two places, have had multiple compression fractures to my back among other things and i want the best back protection money can buy. Is this worth it?

I have broken both of my collar bones on two different occasions

I have broken both of my collar bones on two different occasions while snowboarding over the years. I am looking at this body armor to prevent such an episode from happening again. Is the shoulder pad designed to specifically prevent fracture to the clavicle?

No, the raised rubber is to prevent injury to the clavicle (or collar bone.) The plastic shoulder pad prevents damage to the scapula (specifically the acromium process, which I just broke) or the humerous (usually an impacted humerous)
