Perception Carolina 12.0 Kayak - 2005

The Perception Carolina 12 takes the forgiving handling and stability of the bigger Carolinas and squashes them down to a kid-friendly size. Like all the Carolinas, the 12 is confidence inspiring but has a long enough hull to hold a straight line and get some speed up. An integral molded seat and foam floatation side pillars keep the boat light, so that kids aren't overwhelmed by it and Mom and Dad don't break their backs carrying it to the water. A drain plug makes the boat easy to drain if (let's be honest; when) the boat gets water in it, and deck rigging provides a handy place to stash essentials like extra shoes or clothing.

Bottom Line: Start 'em young.

Great boat for Kids

This is a great boat for small children. It looks like a bathtub toy version of a nice sleek high performance Sea Kayak. Much more fun for my daughter and much easier than a typical 9.5 foot “play boat” or a low volume adult boat, and the price is right.

This is a great beginner boat, and at an awesome price. Paddles nicely, is relatively light, and extremely durable. With good care it will last many, many years.
