Cold winds, snow, and misty mountain weather depletes your body of the heat that it generates. The Patagonia Men's Micro Puff Jacket features partially recycled insulation that warms your body's core, even when it's wet. Patagonia treated the lightweight jacket with durable water repellent so you can wear it on its own or, if the weather gets particularly nasty, under a shell. The Micro Puff is extremely compressible and comes in a stuff sack, so you can have it with you at all times.
Bottom Line: Patagonia packs maximum insulation into a tiny stuff sack.
The fit of this jacket seems to be a bit big. I usually wear a large, but I kind of feel like I am swimming in the large size. Other than that I love it. It packs to about the size of an orange, and it is really light. I haven't had it in wet conditions yet, but for cold temps it performs great. I usually pack it on backcountry ski tours, but i am starting to use it as a quick throw on around town as well. The material seems tough enough to take some abuse to. All in all i am very happy with this jacket
I bought this jacket about a month ago and have worn it a few times. I really like it, except that it fits very strangely. Its snug around the neck and then bells out through the torso and down to the waist. I'm wondering if I should try to replace it with the Mountain Hardwear Compressor Jacket. I know its a few ounces lighter, but will it be as warm? Is it cool to return something you've had for a month (no wear or tear, really)? I'm 6' 150 lbs, by the way, and I'll be in the Waddington range over the summer - so that is what the jacket is for.
You should be just fine with the MH Compressor Jacket. Should be great actually. You're totally fine returning the jacket.....anytime! Part of the beauty of Backcountry is that if you're EVER dissatisfied with the item you can return it either for a full refund or an exchange, no questions asked! Jump on "live chat" and have them help you set up an RMA# and you'll be good to go.Hope that helps.
I had the pullover and bought the jacket because they are more versatile than pullovers for me. Note: description is off. It has one interior mesh pocket and 3 exterior pockets (2 waist and 1 chest).
Well, it seems that this runs a bit large, and I tend to move between medium and large. One writer is a couple of inches shorter than me, though, and he was recommended a medium as a "perfect fit." I'm a shade under 6'2" and around 190 lbs. So should I consider a large or a medium?
My friend urged me to get the pullover, which he loves. I prefer the full zipper and more pockets. At first I wasn't sure I'd keep it. I wanted black but only could get red on short notice, plus the fit is boxy. I packed it with tags still on for a rainy 30deg-40deg hard hike trip. On the hike I decided to use it. I've never looked back. Not as warm as my expedition down coat, but so much lighter. I feel good in it now. I no longer see it as boxy. I even wear it around my neighborhood - and enjoy it! I highly recommend it. One thing I've been meaning to ask is why I can't find the interior stash pocket. That's a bit annoying.
This is a great warming jacket, that not only keeps me toasty warm waiting with my son for the school bus, but is also made from recycled poly, so save an oil field. Large enough to layer underneath, and skirt drawstrings make it adjustable enough to wear under or over any of my shell options. Packs down to nothing, came with its own stuff sack, and very generous pockets for my gloves, overmitts, or a hat. Love this jacket!
I have had this jacket for a while now, and definitely long enough to give my honest opinion on it. As far as looks go, I don't think it is the most attractive jacket around. The shell is made from a pretty lightweight material and does a decent job of keeping water off as long as its a light fall and you are moving. Included stuff sack is a little big for the jacket and it could be stuffed down much more if you pick up a smaller one. Long story short, I replaced mine with a down sweater. I recommend trying both on and deciding which you prefer. Decent jacket anyways and I give 'er four stars.
I have the hooded version and I love it. The description is off about the pockets, also in another review. The coat is very warm for the small amount of insulation, which makes it light and compact-able. Waterproof and warm making this an excellent winter jacket.
I have had this jacket for about six months and love it. I am not sure how to clean it however, can it be dry cleaned? Or should I use a front loading commercial washer on gentle cycle?
I have had this jacket for two winters now and it is a great piece to own. I am 6 feet and weigh 180 and I went with a medium after trying on different sizes. Reason being is that it felt as though the sizes were to accommodate layers underneath, but I wanted it more as a mid- layer. I have worn this alone with a t-shirt and been warm, I have layered it and been warm, I love it. It is a Warm and Windproof layer that won't disappoint.
I haven't had it long. Seems like a nice jacket. It's warmer than I expected. I thought it would be like a puffy sweater, but it's warmer than that, I think.
I love their stuff, but patagonia's sizing is just strange. I have Patagonia tops in L, XL, and XXL that all fit! I bought this in XL, but it's very large on me and I probably could wear a L. Patagonia is about the only brand that I'd ever buy a top in size Large.
It would be a neat trick if the pockets were insulated. The collar is a bit too fall for my short neck.
This jacket rules. I am 6'0" and I bought a M, based on the "boxy" fit mentioned by other reviewers. Arm length is fine, they don't ride up or get tight in the back like jackets that are too small. And it feels as though there is still enough room to layer a sweater underneath. Pockets are not lined, which would have been a nice touch. Packs up super small and light. I bought it specifically for technical climbing wear, but I think I may have just shelved my TNF Down sweater.
Bought it to stuff in the pack for 3-season trips--but I'm using it every day! It's warm, not as bulky as my old down puff, has good secure zip pockets so I don't always have to bring a bag or pack.
Super light, easy to layer, repels mosture. Just an easy every day jacket for running around and a technical piece of gear to keep out the elements when necessary.
This synthetic piece works great in cold, wet conditions as a layer, or as a stand alone piece in milder temps. On the whole, just what you would expect from Patagonia.
