Patagonia Chute To Thrill Pant - Men's - 2005

The Chute to Thrill Pant from Patagonia takes on the steep and deep without holding back. Serious weather-proofing is the result of a stretch softshell and a stretch waterproof barrier working together. These advanced materials can move with you without loosing their protective capabilities. With an outerwear first, Patagonia has been able to seal the seams of their softshell for complete weather resistance. More breathable than hardshell pants, the Chute To Thrill Pant lets heat and moisture escape to maintain a comfortable temperature range. Large side zips open up to dump excess heat when hiking under the hot spring sun. Great, up to date ski pants

I have an old pair of Patagonia pants that, after 10yrs, have been great on wear and comfort but have lost their waterproofing. I received these Chute to Thrill Pants as a gift. Excellent water repellency (I have had a chance to test this feature in significant snowfall and, alas, rain) and fit. Secure fit over ski boots even without using the additional attachment features provided. Two minor quibbles. First, the pockets are not as comfortable to get in and out of as my old pants--I think if the zipper were oriented more vertically access would be easier. Second, one of the suspenders tends to fall off my shoulder unless I keep the straps especially tight--I have also thought of rigging a tie to attach the two straps across my chest, but have not done this yet. As I said, these are quibbles. Overall a fine pair of pants that I expect to give me years of service.
