Patagonia R1 Pants - Men's - 2006

R1 Pants by Patagonia are a warm alternative to fleece bottoms. Patagonia's R1 insulation traps warm air to keep your body temperature constant. With an emphasis on negative space, these pants are warmer and lighter in weight than thick fleece pants. A smooth surface layers well and allows these pants to be worn alone. The R1 now features an improved cut for layering or cold-weather running.

These R1 pants are the best way I have found to ensure a good nights sleep on those cold winter nights. They are just the right weight to warmth ratio. Work well also with a pair of shorts over them to hike the cooler hours of the day. Yo bear!

R1 pants not pants

I bought these because Patagonia stopped making the R.5 pants. I wore those pants almost every day. The R1 "pants" are really tights. They have an elastic cuff at the ankle and a tighter fit, not to mention only one fairly useless glued-in type pocket. If you want pants, these are not for you.

They aren't really pants, these are tights. Other than the semantic mix-up these things are awesome. Simple pants that are equally at home layering or worn alone for aerobic pursuits. The R1 fabric is a nice weight and breaths really well. I also feel it’s insulation-to-thickness ratio is unsurpassed. Unless you want to be fashionable, these pants (er...tights) are really sweet.
