Patagonia Airius-T - Men's - 2006

Wear your Patagonia Airius-T for desert hiking and summertime bike rides. Did you know that wearing a lightweight Airius-T actually keeps you cooler than wearing no shirt at all? The ability of the Airius Knit and Silkweight Capilene to move heat-laden moisture from your core reduces body temperature so you don't overheat. Also, having one of these high-tech T's on will block the sun and its harmful UV rays. In fact, The Airius actually has a ceramic component that uses UV rays to help eliminate odors. Patagonia knits EVOH into the Airius to maintain a dry feel even after hours on the trail. The shoulder seams have been moved to not interfere with backpack straps for a more comfortable fit while hiking. A shirt with all of these traits can be used alone in hot temps or as a layer for wintertime tours.

Bottom Line: Get two because you'll want to have one on everyday this summer.

What was Patagonia thinking?

By:
June 6, 2005

The concept of a lightweight, breathable, less stink synthetic shirt from top manufacturer Patagonia made a lot of sense and caught my attention. However, the end result doesn't work.

Why did Patagonia create all of those flat double stitched seams on the shoulder area and in the upper back? Probably to connect the two different fabrics together. The negative to this is that the seams get in the way big time with a pack and the skin begins to chafe where it makes contact to the seams.

The Airius T does in fact breathe very well. But after ten days in three shirts (machine washed) of climbing 14ers, running and just plain old exercising, I began to see that these shirts are made for walking or running without a pack on.

The fabric does not stink as much as the Strider T's but it's not as stink-proof as an Icebreaker Merino wool.

The Airius Ts are nice lightweight shirts, but they're not meant for anything that has to do with carrying a pack or for an activity that's rough on the fabric.

The best shirt for the humidity

By:

The Patagonia Arius T is awesome. It has the best wicking feature of any shirt I have tried yet and the porcelain keeps odor virtually unnoticeable.

great t-shirt

By:
August 21, 2006

This is a great t-shirt that offers its best when performing high output physical activities in hot weather. Although eventually it gets wet, it still keeps a kind of light feeling.

There is one drawback: it's delicate, so keep it away from VELCRO-brand fasteners and abrasive materials.

Too much stitching

By:

For some reason this shirt has double sided stitching; I find it uncomfortable to wear. Certainly breathes well from my limited experience with it, but I think I will stick to silk weight Capilene for comfort.
