Patagonia Freightliner Wheeled Gear Bag - 4000 cu in - 2007

The Patagonia Freightliner Wheeled Gear Bag is the only way to travel. This duffel bag easily hauls heavy loads of gear and clothing for long distances. It can hold a week's worth of clothes and a pair of ski boots, each in their own compartments. Patagonia's exclusive stand-up system prevents the bag from tipping over while you're trying to stow all your gear. Seamless, molded-foam and Ballistics cloth bottom protects contents from the rigors of the road. Tough in-line skate wheels with protective housing and impact-resistant skidplates will keep your rolling for thousands of miles.

Bottom Line: Keep rolling.

Perfect size

This bag is perfect for a week or even longer. You can cram clothes and gear into it. The green color is easy to spot amongst a sea of black luggage. I got it for my husband and he loves it. I have several pieces of Patagonia luggage and it's all super sturdy, sleek, modern and functional. Recommended!

Balanced & Ready for Anything

By:

Safari in Africa, snowboarding in Colorado and sailing in the isles: this thing has done it all. The balance when packed makes for the most simple and manageable roller around. It has a stow compartment in the bottom for shoes or other undesirables, a huge main compartment and one more for misc. toiletries or other, smaller gear. This bag rocks.

Follow up to my poor review for Freightliner

By:

It is only fair to report that Patagonia stood fully behind the defective freightliner bag - including repayment for return postage to them. This is one reason that I generally have been confident in Patagonia products.

Less bag for the same cost

By:
March 14, 2005

Recently purchased a Patagonia freightliner wheeled bag. I have another that I have had for 5 years that is still traveling well. I elected to purchase another based on past experience. Unfortunately the new bag's retractable handle stuck in the up position on the second day of my recent trip to Europe and caused a major hassle as I was traveling by train and bus. Also the airline was not pleased when I had to check it for my return trip to US. We will see how the "lifetime warranty" holds up.
By comparing it to my other five-year-old bag - you can see that they have cheapened some of the features -including the retractable handle. The price however has remained fixed at about $300. I like Patagonia products - but my experience with this bag has not been good.

Road Warrior

You never think you'll log more miles in an airliner than you will in your hiking boots, but it has come to pass for me in an effort to pay the bills and feed the family. I recently purchased a Patagonia Freightliner and it is quite honestly the best wheeled luggage I've owned. It doesn't tip over as advertised, the various compartments are large enough for your gear, it rolls smoothly, stands up to the abuse of the baggage handlers, the zippers operate smoothly, the handle retracts and locks securely. The only complaint you may have is: when fully loaded, it will not fit in the overhead compartment of most planes. Since I never carry on this isn't an issue for me. I wholeheartedly recommend this bag for anyone looking for a piece of sturdy luggage that will last for years. I own other Patagonia bags and this one is my new current favorite.

Great Bag

By:

Great wheeled bag for travel. I can get like 5-7 days worth of stuff in here – other people can probably do better. Good quality throughout. Best feature is how the bag is designed to stand up without tipping over.

Dependable balanced and TOUGH!

By:
July 27, 2005

After 52 countries with too many unreliable pieces of luggage I found this bag which always delivers my "goods". My experience with the Freightliner—and its protective/flexible bottom—is great. This winner from Patagonia is fantastic, whether Scuba diving or skiing, and its overall design. balance, and strength are nearly perfect.

I LOVE THIS BAG

By:
December 1, 2005

I bought this bag because my wife already had the Freightliner Max, and I wanted something equally as rugged but slightly smaller. This is truly the easiest and most durable bag I've ever owned, and I love it! Oh yeah, Patagonia's warranty is equally as bulletproof, if it breaks in any way, they fix it or replace, no questions asked. Awesome.

Patagonia Freightliner

Excellent bag with thoughtful design details. I've taken this bag to South America, California, and New York and it has proven its mettle. Easy to spot in baggage claim and you can stuff it and treat it rough and it asks for more. Worth the money.
