Outdoor Research Vert Glove

Designed with mountaineer Ed Viesturs' input, the Outdoor Research Vert Gloves are ideal for any cold-weather activity that requires excellent grip and dexterity. Wear these stretchy, close-fitting gloves when you gather wood for your ski hut stove, set up your high-altitude camp, or ski on a bluebird spring day. Leather palms and fingers enable you to grab ski poles, tent poles, and hatchets with ease.

Bottom Line: The Outdoor Research Vert Gloves are like a really warm second skin when you need to do careful work in cold weather.

Simple and clean

Clean tight fit, leather palms, these are great gloves when maximum warmth is NOT needed. They are great for the uphill when touring, spring time skiing, summer mountaineering, etc...you can layer them under bigger shell gloves/mitts and they make a great complimentary system.

So Simple, so clean clean

Perfect for touring, pitching a tent, fumbling stuff. Dry well when stuffed in my coat. Not too warm, but then I didn't buy them for that.

Nope. Just black. But the gripper gloves come in powder blue & red, and the stormtracker gloves come in crimson if that helps.

Simple, clean, some problems

By:
March 16, 2009

Design is simple and clean. Shell material is snow-shedding and at least a little stretchy. No insulation, just a light wicking lining. Used for bust-ass skiing or snowshoeing, spring skiing, summer mountaineering these are wind-resistant and comfortable. The leather palm and fingers give solid grip, but otherwise is problematic. The leather absorbs water much more readily than other gloves I've used and takes a long time to dry. I treated with Nikwax glove treatment, and found no improvement. Further, the leather hasn't proven especially sturdy, at least not compared to other gloves I've used. Because of this issue I can't recommend them, but they do have their good points. If you find a leather treatment that CAN make the leather water-resistant you might well have a decent utility glove.

Good Gloves

By:
January 4, 2009

I bought these gloves for my dad about a year ago for Christmas, and he is very happy with them. He uses them for everything from snow blowing to snowshoeing. While they are not waterproof, they are water-resistant and windproof. They dry quickly and keep his hands about as warm as a glove this size can keep them. Very good product.

Very nice

I bought these as a lightweight glove for snowshoeing and the walk to class. They are sweet looking and the back material feels bomb-proof. Unless you are active, wouldn't wear them below 30 degrees. First set of gloves I can use my cell phone with.

Great gloves

Got these gloves out of necessity. Was going skiing in spring 07 and forgot mine. Picked these up and loved them. They hold up to wind and water surprisingly well and are great for everyday use.

Made Well.

I bought these as ski gloves, but when I got them I found them to be very thin. I'm not sure if I just read the description wrong and ordered the wrong glove, but I'm sure they were designed for a BASE layer under ski gloves for which they would be very functional. I kept them hoping the slopes wouldn't be too cold. Overall the construction is very good and would make a great thin glove for hiking or running.
