Even if the sun is blinding, enjoy your after-work jog with the Outdoor Research Sun Runner Cap on your noggin. Outdoor Research constructed this stiff-brimmed hat with UPF 30+ SolarShield Fabric and gave it a removable sun skirt for total protection. The Sun Runner Cap's side air vents and moisture-wicking Coolmax headband keep you cool and comfortable, while the adjustable Cinch-Strap gives you a custom fit.
Bottom Line: The sun has nothing on you when you're wearing the Outdoor Research Sun Runner Cap.
Okay, so not the most stylish hat I will agree, but if your hanging out on a glacier or on the ocean this is a must have. The skirt comes off easy if you just want the ball cap, but I keep mine on all the time. The hat keeps me cool at high altitudes on sunny days and I never wear sunscreen on my neck or ears anymore with this item. The best way to pervent too much sun exposure is to cover up. I wash mine in the regular wash with other clothes and have had no problems.
I liked the hat, but opted for a wide brim hat in it's place. The "skirt" is a little complicated where it ties into the hat, maybe a little warmer than I wanted as the skirt lies close to your neck; not as airy as I'd hoped. Nice quality product.
I took this hat out for its maiden run today - 90 minutes in the mid-day sun. I was not disappointed. I used the full-coverage mode, and while I felt it made me slightly resemble a Star Wars Snow (Hoth) Stormtrooper (purchased the white/slate color), it was both comfortble and cool. I anticipate using this hat many, many more times. I am very fair-skinned, and so I also see this hat as saving me alot of money on sunscreen that would have been applied to my face, ears, and neck!
Sun Runner Cap hi everyone. I like to say that I liked his hat. Very comfortable, and most of all the protected my neck. Believe you me, I have a very big yard .me being signal. I have to do the artwork all by myself. So I have to spend a lot of time out there. Now I don't have to tell you spending a lot of time out in the sun, you're going to burn, but this baby protected my neck and sides of my neck in the top of my head. It also has a very nice rim, considering the alternative I was wearing a towel over your head. Of course, I look stupid, but this is a great hat. I recommend it
I bought the hat specifically for a 100 mile Ultra Race. The hat worked out great; I used the cape in all three positions and even rolled it up and tucked it behind the cape cord. Highly recommend!!
I bought this cap for my very fair skinned 10 year old grandson. He LOVES it!!! He is very sensitive of looks and this hat he thinks is the best thing he ever had! It has great coverage for neck and face so he does not have to apply so much sunscreen, which he detests on his face. Thanks for a great and well made cap!
I have this hat and found when I was gardening the flaps on the skirt didn't stay put even with the drawstring. I wear the hat for sun protection on my face. Am I doing something wrong?
Could be. If you still have the packaging, check it for instructions about the various positions that you can use. Or, add another drawstring at the bottom on your own.
I use this type (cap with sun skirt) habitually for spring tour skiing. Of course this type is useful as a sun protect, but also becomes the simple windblock for cold wind of the ridgeline. There are a lot of caps of this type, and all is similar, but I like this.
This can easily squeeze a skirt depending on the situation. This can easily remove a skirt. And the removed skirt becomes very compact.
I've used other sun hats in the past but this one is my favorite. The two best features of this hat are how light it is and how customizable it is.
The removable skirt with multiple configurations is done just right. Keep in mind the skirt can also provide a reasonable level of wind protection. I do a lot of ridge-top sunset hikes and this hat transitions well from an afternoon sun hut to an light wind block hat in the evening.
I did like how well the hat adjusts to fit my head as well, which I have sometimes had trouble with in the past on other products.
This hat is great for running in the sun. It keeps the sun out of my face, and doesn't heat me up. I don't use the sun skirt, but it goes on and off easily and really covers well. The head band does an awesome job of keeping the sweat out of my face. The hat fits very well - and is easily adjustable. It even stays on no problem in windy conditions. Overall, this hat has made me want to buy more hats from Outdoor Research.
This cap/hat is perfect for rafting on the river, hiking, and is lightweight, very comfortable, and blocks out all the sun off of your ears and neck. It's very versatile in that you can change up the neck flap depending on whether you want more or less coverage. Great on the water, dries fast, great for hiking for excellent sun protection. Highly recommended.
