Don't leave home with out it

Wearing it while I write this...always with me, you have to save yourself from the sun, because looking like leather is so 1985. Stuff it in your pocket, throw it on for the rain, its always with me.

Accurate sizing...what's up with that?

By:
May 31, 2007

I ordered the extra large and shockingly...it was extra large. I can't believe I had to return an XL for a large. Could there really be a clothing company that pays attention to us mesomorphs? I will be checking out a lot more of Outdoor Research's gear from now on. Quality and finish were excellent and accurate sizing, Yee Haw!

It's hard, but it's split in the middle so you can put it in a pocket or lumbar pack. Very convenient.

Awesome cap

By:
October 18, 2009

I have an abnormally HUGE head. Outdoor Research is the only company that feels my pain and makes hats that actually fit me (XL of course) without causing severe, squeezing headaches. The fact that they made a hat big enough to fit me personally (for there can't be more than a handful of other people with melons as enormous as mine) means a lot to me. This is a great cap that folds down nicely and offers UPF sun protection. I couldn't be happier. Of note, my gigantic head is also bald and greasy (I know you're feeling sorry for me now). The slate color doesn't show the grease, but the khaki unfortunately does.

Great Hat

By:

I love my radar pocket cap. I have a really small head, and the small is a little big, but not too big. It looks great when I wear it out, and does it's job too!

They most likely will. Your best bet is just to check back often to see if they have re-stocked.

High Time for a review

By:
September 26, 2008

I love this hat. Plain and simple.

I wear it while backpacking, fly fishing, approach hiking, camping, driving... It's particularly useful on backpacking trips. If its too hot for a hat, I fold it up and stow in any pocket. The brim is long enough for keeping the sun off of my eyes and short enough to make me forget its in my pocket. It's often made me the brunt of many Castro jokes (I have a beard), but I don't care. I'm going to buy another right now.

Perfect Hat!

By:
March 27, 2009

Well I have been on the search for a good fitting stylish hat seemingly forever. There is always something not quite right whether it be fit to brim to style etc... The list of imperfections is endless. I have a tiny head for a guy not obvious to the casual observer, but when it comes to sunglasses and hats, forget it I need some personalized gear. This hat fits perfectly (I have the small!). The small brim is perfect too, it is a good balance so you dont get the beak look many other caps. Material is light fairly breathable. Oh and it folds up without ruining the brim it is designed for that, and allows you to carry it in your jean pocket on those nights at the bar when you suddenly think damn I kinda wish I had a hat right now. No one will even know its in your pocket, and slip it on and instant style points.. Overall a great hat, and an added bonus buy some waterproofing spray and then it becomes even more functional!

Pretty cool hat

By:
March 30, 2009

At first I wasn't sure whether I was going to like it since it has a split bill so you can fold it up and put it in your pocket. I love it, it doesn't look uncool at all, actually my husband is jealous of how awesome it looks. Its very comfortable, keeps you covered without making your head hot like traditional baseball caps. I wear it hiking, backpacking, and when I'm just spending time casually outside in the sun. It does run a little big. I got small, which is exactly what I measured at, and its just a little loose, not enough to complain about though, just FYI.

Great hat

By:

Got a medium, as that is my size in motorcyle helmets (Arai anyway), and it fits perfectly. Love the foldable brim, which reatins a nice curve when it's out of pocket. Very comfy and stylish.

Liked it, but had to return it. Twice.

By:
July 16, 2009

I normally don't wear hats, but i ordered it because it looks pretty cool. I went by the size chart (my head measures 22.75 inches or 58cm.) and ordered a large in Slate. It was kinda big on me and could have easily blown off my head. Color looks just like the picture. I had to return it. I reordered the hat in size medium in burnt orange. It was a little tight. The color is a little bit lighter than the pictures shown. Nice hat , but not for me. Hope this info helps you out .
PS: I bought the Outdoor Research Radar Visor in Slate..Very cool. One size fits all and is adjustable.

Totally useful

The Radar pocket cap is the most useful hat I have ever owned. Sprayed to repel water makes it a hat for all seasons and never a bother.

It's just so foldable and easy to take anywhere. Ready to go after a bike ride, fits perfect in my camera pack in case I need it later in the day (and since the bill is split I don't have to worry about destroying it or mangling it) and is light and perfect for hiking in. OR is crushing it these days, keep up the good work!

Rad Cap

This is great cap and folds up easily for traveling. I got the small and I'm a really small female and it is still a little bit loose, so it definitely is more of a unisex fit.

2nd Try

By: Backcountry.com Employee
March 5, 2009

I handed off the medium sized hat (see below) to my lady and tried the large. No go. Too big. Oh well I guess it's not going to happen for me. Still a great hat tho.

Nice Hat

By: Backcountry.com Employee
July 29, 2008

This thing is pretty cool- light and useful. The med fits my head perfectly, which is the problem, I'd like it to have a little elastic so it was stretchy. Sometimes it's too tight, especially when my hair is a little longer. Worthy though.
