The Outdoor Research HydroLite Pack Sacks let you get out in foul, wet weather without the fear of soaking everything in your pack. The HydroLite-coated fabric with taped seams provides waterproof performance to keep your stuff dry. The reversed-fabric drawcord tunnel and Hypalon cordlock-keeper closure work together to make closing these bags a cinch. A dust flap keeps dirt and moisture out of the opening, and a webbing handle on the bottom of the bag makes moving and handling these waterproof stuff sacks a breeze.
Bottom Line: These Pack Sacks are a must have for wet and rainy backpacking, camping, or any other foul weather fun.
These bags are durable, strong and almost water proofâplaced it in my tub for 5 minutes with some gear in them and had a little leakage. (go with a roll top if you want something water proof) I took these down the Narrows in Zion National Park in June of 08 and loved them.
Light and yet durable. These bags are a great way to keep your clothes dry and protected while backpacking. Also, they work surprisingly well for heavy loads--I've had close to 20lbs in the number 4 with no trouble.
I wouldn't worry about cleaning this sack unless it's really necessary. If you do clean it, hand wash with mild soap & warm water. This procedure works just fine.
I bought a pair of the #1 size and 1 of the #4 in spring of 2005. I spent that entire summer in the backcountry with these sacks and it didnt take long before they became one of my favorite pieces of gear. Excellent, flawless build quality that will take anything you throw at it - I used the big #4 as a bear bag for all my stuff and the webbing strap on the bottom showed no sign of stress from being hung upsidedown and the drawcord was strong enough to keep everything from falling out during the night. Also, I never lost any sleep over hoping that all my food, clothes, etc. were staying dry in the downpoor - Hang the sacks upsidedown and a firehose wouldn't make it inside. END OF STORY: These things are bomber and a great bang for your buck!
I own sizes 2 through 4 and I will be purchasing sizes 1 and 5 shortly. They are essential gear. Don't go into the backcountry without these. We all know the importance of waterproofing, and these bad-boys are rockstar quality. Spend the couple extra bucks and ditch the Ziploc bags, you will be happy you did when your extra pair of hiking socks and underwear are bone dry. Hot Dog!
Got size 4 for a down bag. Took to Ecuador. Rained every day. Bag stayed dry. That's the most important thing, so it did the job. Light and dry. Get one.
This is an excellent quality sack with a very modern appearance. The drawstring is easy to operate & the flap near the opening is useful for keeping your gear neatly tucked away.I am glad that I purchased this product.
