Pack your gear in the Outdoor Research Helium Dry Sacks and keep everything dry on your wet backpacking adventures. Bomber waterproof fabric and taped seams block moisture from entering these ultralight dry sacks. Whether you want to keep all your clothes and sleeping bag dry or just need to protect a few essentials, Outdoor Research gives you plenty of sizes to choose from. Roll the top down and use the Helium Dry Sack's durable buckle to close the top.
Bottom Line: When you're hiking in wet weather, Outdoor Research's Helium Dry Sacks assure a dry change of clothes.
The small sack I have works great for clothes and food. I've never had anything end up getting wet even after sitting in the bottom of a wet canoe for hours. 18 months later and it's still waterproof.
This is a light pack that rips just from sitting in the bottom of a canoe. I took this on a 3 day trip to the boundary waters and it multiple tears in it after the first night.
well you'd have to leave it inflated all the time, and even then it's not a very good idea. Also, I am not sure how much weight it could take! The seams are water-proof, but they won't really handle pressure. I used it as a pillow once, and woke up in the morning with a tiny hole at one seam!
I stole this from my brother and used it as a pack liner, and nothing got wet! I swear there is like a little force field, so when ever water even comes near, it just vanishes into the air!
DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF CRAP! Its extremely thin and even though it is the largest bag you can buy the threads ripped when I put 25lbs of gear in it and lifted it in its closed form. Also they sent me the wrong color, I ordered black and got orange. I didnt have time to send it back because I needed a bag for memorial day so I just decided to deal even though I paid $30 plus dollars for this crappy bag. It will keep your stuff dry if it doesnt rip.
I bought this to kayak, so far so good. I've used it around 10 times, everything stays dry. I got #5 - bigger than I usually need, but rolls up just fine to a smaller size!
These bags are mode for clothing, sleeping or other gear like electronics. Not heavy weight goods like 25 pounds. I pack my down sleeping bag and sleep gear in mine with the knowledge that a pack dunking or rain will not rob me a warm nights sleep. The bag when fully stuffed is like a balloon and can be punctured by a sharp stick. But for very light weight storage of clothing they are great. I own several. The Sea to Summit Event bag is easier to compress.
It's been said here in other reviews but the Outdoor Research Helium Dry Sacks are great when you just need to keep softgoods and clothing dry. I have used this for a couple daily trips on the Main Salmon and it worked great to carry some warm layers for after the trip. It also works great for backpacking to keep clothes or a sleeping bag dry. This is definitely not the dry bag you want for a two week trip down the Grand Canyon where you need to keep all of your gear dry but for a short trip to keep clothing dry it's a solid bag.
