Outdoor Research Expedition Crocodiles Gaiter - 2007

Featuring an increased circumference that provides room for plastic boots and bulky insulated pants, the Outdoor Research Expedition Crocodiles Gaiters offer dependable protection for extended climbs and treks in wet and cold conditions. OR optimally placed the 3-layer 70d Taslan Gore-Tex® leg section and the 1000d Cordura reinforced inner-leg section to provide maximum durability without compromising breathability. The hook-and-loop cinch-strap top closure is easy to work with mittens or bulky gloves. A hook-and-loop shear tab prevents separation of the 2in-wide double-stitched hook-and-loop front closure; and a field-replaceable urethane-coated nylon instep strap provides a snug fit so you can be confident your feet and legs will stay warm and dry through even the worst conditions.

Bottom Line: If you're going to extremes, make sure your gaiters are extreme enough to handle it.

Best of the Best

My first pair of gaiters were Mountain Hardware and I was very satisfied until a major theft of all my gear one winter. That forced me to buy new last year. I decided to go with these and have to add that these have
out-performed any situation I have out them in. I respect and treat my gear like a son but do expect an unwavered performance out of them. I would buy these again over any other but I expect to see these outlast me. Recommendation, use some small tubing over the under-strap to protect it from rock or duck tape. An sizing, they were correct to size. They fit perfectly on my Koflachs and even fit my Asolo leathers. OR ROCKs

My OR Expe Gaiters are GREAT!!!

By:

I used mine on Denali for days and days with absolutely no problems. The fit was great and on summit day they easily worked with my OR Brooks Ranger overboots.
If you do your research you can buy the right stuff that fits well. If you make a mistake when ordering it is your responsibility to make it right, not OR's.

Is there a better gaiter?

By: Backcountry.com Vendor Rep

I was checking out these gaiters to purchase a pair for my wife when I saw a review slamming the best gaiters I've ever owned. These puppies are bombproof and easy to use with frozen digits. My size large Exp. Crocs are too big for my size 10 leather hikers but fit my plastic mountaineering boots better than anything. I can't help wondering what the sizing issue might have been with our mountaineering buddy from Pittsburg/Boston. Here in the Rockies, these things get used pretty hard and these things fit and take a pounding with both crampons and skis.

Good and roomy!

These are a set of gaiters that I really would buy again! I can fit as many layers I want underneath and still have a bit to spare! The only bad thing about them is the boot-strap that could be a wire of some sort that would last longer, but it's easy to replace so that's not such a big deal! If you want a gaiter that fits big plastic boots, this is a good choice!

xx size is really small

Don't trust the sizing charts. They are wrong. Unless of course, you think that the average American male is only 5 foot 2 inches, instead of a normal 6 foot 4, or 5 inches. The last time any one I know was 5 foot 2 was in 4th grade. I got these really looking forward to them, since I live in Boston/Pittsburgh and we get a lot of snow in both places. There is no way these are made for an adult human. So if you are not emaciated and a pygmy, forget ordering these. When you order them think child sizes, OR does not make gaiters for adults. Looks like I will have to find a 5-year-old that will shovel my driveway. Oh wait, I own a 12 horsepower snow blower. I am sure that they will come in handy for something, don’t know what. Anyone know any snow pygmies?
