Outdoor Research Ether Jacket - Men's - 2007

Outdoor Research designed the Men's Ether Jacket for those times when you should bring a jacket but don't want the extra weight. At only 8.5 ounces, this water- and wind-resistant jacket is ideal for hiking, climbing, and trail running trips where everything gets pared to the minimum. In addition to keeping you dry in light rain or snow, the Ether Jacket provides just a touch of extra warmth to keep your teeth from chattering when the mercury drops unexpectedly.

Bottom Line: You never know when a nice day will turn bad. The Ether keeps you prepared.

best all purpose jacket out there

wore this jacket every day for 10 days in the Collegiate Peaks - through 3 days of rain. I ended up leaving my Goretex jacket in my pack. The Ether is just water-resistant enough to fend off most rain, and the right weight and temp for giving you just a little bit of warmth over a baselayer. Super light weight!
