Outdoor Research Aspire Jacket - Women's

Outdoor Research feels that just because you need a lightweight jacket doesn't mean you have to sacrifice features, so they designed the Women's Aspire Jacket. The hem-to-pit zippers allow you to adjust ventilation on the go, so you don't get too hot and don't feel too chilled. The Outdoor Research Aspire Jacket weights only 13.5oz and stuffs into its own internal pocket, making it an excellent pick for trips where you may or may not need a shell. Yet somehow in those few ounces, OR managed to incorporate fully-taped seams, an adjustable hood, and adjustable cuffs and hems.

Bottom Line: Let the Aspire Jacket show you what on-trail comfort feels like.

What is the difference between this jacket and the Outdoor Research

What is the difference between this jacket and the Outdoor Research Reflexa jacket?

Those are very similar jackets, both are light-weight and 100% waterproof using PU membranes. The difference is the Aspire uses Gore-tex, where the Reflexa uses a proprietary Pertex PU laminate.

Write your question here...i am a runner and have the old frank shorter gore-tex running jacket. does this jacket have the same texture of gore-tex running gear. i see different wording for gore-tex material. does this jacket have a substantial feel to it or really light weight like some nylon/polyster windproof jackets.

Most ventilation ever

By:

This jacket has it all over the others in the ventilation department. I really like the side zips that go all the way up as far as you want and down from the pit to wherever you want. That way you have the maximum breathability besides the goretex fabric itself. The sizing was fine with a medium to fit over 2-3 layers of clothing, and I often go with a small, but I wanted this to be versatile and fit over layers for winter as well as summer. Only drawback is the side zippers are stiff, so you have to firmly hold down the hem with 1 hand while pulling up hard with the other. Also, you need to practice adjusting the rear hood adjuster, barrel fastener before you are in windy conditions. It can be a little tricky.

Is the "outdoor research Aspire Jacket" suitable for X-Country skiing ? If not what would you recommend?

I wouldn't use this for X-country skiing. For me it's not breathable enough. You might look at some of the backcountry.com line of both softshell jackets and pullovers. They've got some great stuff that works incredibly well for skate and classic skiing.

Great Jacket

By:
July 6, 2009

This is the ultimate in rain gear! I am in love and I've been hunting for a while. The only problem is it's a little too big. I followed the sizing guide which actually said I should take a Medium. I went with the Small (since that's my usual size in clothing) but an extra small would've been better. Go with your usual size for outdoor gear, I've tried a few other brands and the X-Small always fit me best.

Yes, OR typically is fairly generous on their arm lengths. Great products!

I am going to the Amazon. Would this jacket hold up to that kind of downpour?

Yes it would. What is great about the goretex pack lite is it is really breathable. So with the warm temperatures in the down pours you won't sweat to death in the jacket.
