Outdoor Research Alti Glove

Outdoor Research uses a combination of PrimaLoft and pile fleece insulation to give the Alti Gloves excellent warmth without sacrificing dexterity. By concentrating the PrimaLoft on the back of the hand, Outdoor Research creates a glove that easily hangs onto anything from ice tools to trekking poles. The waterproof breathable Gore-Tex shells keeps every drop of moisture on the outside, and long gauntlets ensure the snow stays out when you're plunging an ice axe. These mountaineering gloves from Outdoor Research also feature removable liners which dry quickly at night.

Bottom Line: The Outdoor Research Alti Gloves keep your hands warm on cold, technical mountain pitches.

so much money for so little

I bought these gloves thinking they were some of the best. Boy I was wrong. I got them opened the box put them on and I was disappointed. First off they sound like you are wearing a garbage bag. They are really stiff and they would take a long time to break in. I brought them skiing with temps about 5-10 degrees - on the lift I had to wiggle my fingers to stay warm. So i switched to my old forty dollar gloves and my hands were sweating so these gloves are really lacking in the warm department. The liner comes out way to easily and it feels and looks like I bought them from a dollar store. So I sent them back and got Black Diamond guide gloves. Wow what a difference - if your going to buy some expensive gloves get the guides u wont be disappointed.the only thing i like about the alti gloves is the strap right by the wrist - the Black Diamond just uses an elastic band.

Glove Sizes

By:

If you wear an extra large size, these gloves run small. The fingers were extra tight causing packing out of the insulation resulting in the fingers getting colder much faster. If I had a "do over" I would get the mittens instead.

Not really meant for skiing...

By:

I've owned a pair of Alti's for two seasons, and they are designed for mountaineering, not skiing. If you're just sitting on a lift, they probably won't be warm enough, and the giant gauntlet cuff is overkill. They're great for their intended purpose though: activities such as building a snow shelter or setting up a tent in a blizzard. I'll also vouch for what the other guy said about BD ski gloves; they're some of the best.

Not ski gloves

By:

These are not ski gloves! These gloves are great for mountaineering, they offer great dexterity for placing anchors and rope work and provide great warmth if you are actively using your hands, that said they will do nothing for you if you if you stationary for periods of time.
