Oakley Spiral Short - Men's - 2008

Designed specifically for MTB, the burly ripstop Oakley Spiral Short loves to wreck, get up, and keep going. The fixed liner keeps everything in place and the chamois insert prevents saddle numbness, so you can rail fat berms and pin it down washboard returns without hesitation. A stretch fly allows easy relief on the trail, and an adjustable waistband fine-tunes fit. Stash a tool, cash for a post-ride burrito, a house key, and an extra pair of gloves in the Spiral's six pockets.

Bottom Line: Bomber Oakley function—trippy spiral steeze.

Spiral shorts good

By:
September 30, 2008

I wear 34,for Oakley that means Large. These shorts are lightweight and comfortable. The chamois is good without being overly large.the elastic builtin waist belt helps sizing but tends to lose its adjustment when you take off the shorts or when you stop to take a leak . Not a problem if you just wear a belt anyway .The rear pockets are huge and useful , think jersey rear pockets but put them on back of shorts . That space isnt used when you're riding so its ok for storage.Just dont crash( I dont ).Front pockets look ok but I didnt use them for anything.Too small for wallet or my smartphone but keys would fit .I put my camera in the back pockets and it was easy to get to .

Do these run big or small? I'm between a 34/35 waist. On some clothes I can wear a 34 but on others I need the 36. How are these?

Like 'em a lot

Comfy. No chafing and I don't get hot even with as sweaty and dirty as you get when trail riding in the AZ desert. They seem to run big - I have a 34 waist and I bought the large and have them adjusted as small as they will go and they are still a little loose, which is probably why they are comfortable on longer rides.

XXL is a 38-40 waist size, which is probably a little smaller than normal, but not exceptionally so.

Good Shorts

Really good when compared to shorts twice the price. They do run large ;I wear a m and the m has at least an extra inch in the waist, but once in motion no problem. I use cocoa butter as my crotch cream and I have had no chafing.

You're mostly buying a brand with these.

Great looking shorts, and it seemed to fit great, liner, chamois, and all, until i took my first ride in them. Tenty miles was all it took to get a little chafed. Still, I liked the look and feel of the actual shorts enough to just cut the liner out and throw them on over a pair of Specialized removable liners I have. Now they work great.

These shorts a pretty sweet looking. They are not super soft however. The screen print on the side it kind of stiff. But that did not affect me while riding. The chamois worked fine, and I did not get any chaffing after some long rides. They are very durable as well. One setback is they do not breathe great. I am about a 32 waist, and the medium fit fine with a belt. And they have adjustments on the inside of the waist to make them a bit tighter if needed. Overall, I do recommend them.
