The durable Oakley Men's SI Assault Boot is the civilian version of what Oakley developed for the U.S. Elite Special Forces. Wear these lightweight, athletically inspired boots whether you travel stealthily through your workplace halls or through the dense forest. Six-inch uppers keep your ankle stable on uneven terrain or when you leap off walls. Moisture-wicking liners treated with an antimicrobial mean your feet will stay dry and odor-free whether you wait tables in them or sneak through the jungle. Midsoles absorb shock on your midtown walk or as you traverse talus and scree. A high-traction outer sole grips both wet and dry floors and rocky trails.
Bottom Line: Put your feet into Special Forces footwear. The Oakley SI Assault Boots offer burly protection and support for your ol' dogs.
Love these boots since they first came out years ago. I wear these in the winter rather than shoes or snow boots for daily life. Part of my travel kit when heading to AK. Have hiked in the snow in them many times and they work pretty well with that. After some use doing that, found I needed to re-waterproof them. The support and overall feel is perfect. The pair I'm currently using have lasted for 3 years. Best foot wear Oakley ever made. Overall style is timeless and has that military look, light weight which is key.
Used these as a "duty" boot for a year. Very good ankle and arch support. Wide toe box. Laces had to be wrapped around ankle to tie ... and would loosen all the time. Running is not out of the question with these shoes/boots. Fantastic in dirt... suicide on wet asphalt or road with a hint of oil. Super comfortable hiking and the sole wears well. Sized down: I usually wear an 11.5 Asics and in these I can still wear thick wool socks in these at 11.0. I HIGHLY recommend the new 8" boot from Oakley, if you can find it. Same size but way cooler (temperature) with arch vents/drainage holes.
Interesting that the 6" black version of this boot is not offered with the breathable cordura like both the 8" black boot and the 6" desert color boot.
Too bad, because I'd like the 6" black boot but all-leather seems like it would be a bit hot for my taste.
Bought them for my work in the desert, my bud in the Army recommended them. But once I hit the wet surface, they slip and make squeaky noise....Eh, doesn't the army guys have to be stealthy and not making noise? Anyways, the ankle support and fit are great right out of the box. I just wish they will fix the sole design. I won't use them for hiking or scrambling, just suicidal.
these boots are really comfortable, the only thing I would change is the way they fit , they are kind of difficult getting on , I would make the tongue a little looser at the top , other than that they are well worth the bucks
i have had this boot for about a year. for me, it is well constructed, supportive and extremely comfortable. it litterally feels like my Nike running shoes. it has an aggressive tread pattern, and does great on any surface i have walked on, and i have not noticed the wet/slippery issue that others have noted. i have used this boot for casual camping, around town, outdoorsy stuff, and everything but hiking, and it has performed well, especially at keeping my feet very warm in the snow on ski trips. i normally wear a Nike size 11, and an 11 in this boot is perfect.
This was my second pair of these Oakley boots. These boots are the best I have ever worn, anywhere. The traction and comfort is way above par. I always joke that they are more comfortable than my slippers, but that is not far from the truth. I only have one problem with the boots. The leather on my 8" tan pair started to get holes in the leather on the sides (by the balls of the feet) after about 6 months. I hope the new 6" black pair have a little more longevity.
These are my favorite boots. I own 5 pairs. They are extremely comfortable. You can definitely run in these if needed and your feet will thank you for choosing these. The ones sold here are civilian issue (Made in China), but very close to the military issue (Made in the USA). On dry surfaces, these boots are top notch. On Wet/Icey surfaces, you may slip.. Oh yeah, they squeak a lot if you just stepped on some water and let's say for example walked into a place with waxed floors, be ready to hear "creeeek creeeek creeeeek". That is my major gripe with these boots.
Bottom line though, Worth the money, true to sneaker sizes. Love these boots.
I have a pair of these boots and they rock so hard! The boot feels like a running shoe and the sole is not to hard like regular issue boots, plus having the shorter boot is more comfortable..to me anyway.. One gripe abot them is the fact if you get in mud, they get a little slick, but easy to clean off of the sole and boot.
