Oakley D3 Watch - 2006

Oakley designed the D3 Watch with a smaller face and band for endurance racers, marathon runners, and triathletes who want big-time functionality without the bulk. Oakley designed this watch with a continuous Unobtainium band for comfort and with a proprietary software engine that logs 45 separate runs and stores 90 lap times, lap numbers, split times, and the fastest lap time. But this isn't just a training watch. The D3 can take all the knocks of race day thanks to its scratch-resistant crystal and durable O Matter construction, which is shock-resistant and ensures the watch is waterproof to 100 meters.

Bottom Line: The Oakley D3—race day performance for small wrists.

A Watch For The 21 Century

By:
February 27, 2009

If you are young and on the go and love the outdoors, you probably do not want your father's bracelet-ed Swiss watch. I actually was in the watch business in 1974 so I will pay big time for the iconic brands. What you want is a highly durable, smart looking and functional watch like the Oakley D3 which syncs to your busy lifestyle. Remember, you would never want to pay for my old timer watches and wear them to political functions. If you review this Backcountry.com page this watch is priced exceptionally well based on its toughness and outstanding features. You are going hiking and mountain climbing, you need an attractive watch that can hold up and is in style. I fervently recommend the Oakley D3 and so does my kid who recently acquired one. Jay Adler

Oakley D1, D2, D3, D5. etc.

This is the digital watch that Oakley stopped making in 2000 and 2001.Battery life is
about 2 1/2 to 3 years ... Do the math. A seller or buyer is changing the battery and not having it changed at a Watch or qualified dealer that can change the battery
using the vacuum system and a "NEW" gasket is installed along with a new battery installed. If you didn't do it that way,It's going to leak every time.I have 8 of these these watches and I go to Oakley Corp. and these digital watches are great..PS the warranty is not valid since they stopped production 7 1/2 years ago.Every watch that they have now is analog and are outstanding in many ways but I am a "retired professional surfer with and I free dive with them. I have never had any leak at all. The digital watch is so much easier to read than the analog watches when I'm in the water.
Oakley only sells High quality Sunglasses and watches, clothes, Etc, Etc.. Good luck on your purchase when you can find them. JP..<><.

Good on the Track

By:

It's definitely small. I have pretty small wrists and I use the third to last hole. Also, it's no where near waterproof. However, it is great for running track workouts because it saves 90 splits and it'll tell you which lap was your best (lap number and time). Plus, you can save splits from different runs without clearing your data. But it only gets three stars for not being waterproof and having a tiny, uncomfortable band.

I wouldn't

I bought this watch, adding an option to my Ironman---but it doesn't have enough function. Plus, it's not very comfortable. Even w/ Steep & Cheap price, I don't think it's worth it.
Anyone want a free watch?

Awesome watch

By:

At first I was more than a little skeptical about buying an Oakley watch, but knowing that I was buying from Backcountry, with your great follow up, great service and great return policies, what the heck I took the plunge. What an awesome watch, great looking, easy display readout, loud alarm, lots of functions to please everyone and water proof too! Need I say more.

It's OK.

I purchased this watch in Spring 08, and I use it for triathlon training. As far as functionality, it's great. I wear it in the pool, then in the hot shower, and in various lakes, etc. I've also fallen off my bike with it and it sustained nary a scratch. It's easy to use, and all of the timer functions are great for track workouts and swim sets. I also have a small wrist and its fits well. My only complaint though is that the watch gets disgustingly dirty after a few months. The pale blue plastic is now a grungy brownish blue and there's so much gunk underneath the plastic housing that I doubt it could ever get clean. I bought this watch when it was a special on Steep & Cheap, and didn't pay a lot for it. But for what I paid, it was worth it.

Great watch, but not worth it.

By:
January 7, 2009

I bought this watch around 9 months ago and it quit working yesterday. I absolutely loved this watch - it fit great, was comfortable on my small wrist, the display and functions all suited my needs, and I wore it every single day. I had been swimming in the ocean with it and never had a problem. There are so many bad reviews about this watch, and very few good ones, but it's hard for me to not want to purchase another one, especially at SAC prices, even thought it may prove just another waste of money. I'd say it's not recommended because it will almost undoubtedly die before you're ready for it to.

Great watch!

Love this watch. It fits small wrists nicely. I use it for timing myself as I hike up a local mountain, and with this watch I'm able to record my time as I reach the 1/4 marks. Display is large and the backlight is bright. It's easy to use and easy to read.
