Oakley Crowbar Goggles - Iridium Lens - 2006

Bust apart defective eyewear, and put on the Oakley Crowbar Goggles with Iridium Lenses for crystal-clear vision on the brightest days. The Crowbar's amplified dimensions extend your range of available peripheral and downward vision. Oakley's patented XYZ Optics provide correction along three axes and enhances visibility in medium to very bright light conditions for astounding visibility across your entire field of vision. The Plutonite lens material also offers superior eye protection, blocking 100% of all UV. The Crowbar's ultra-flexible O Matter frame is contoured to facial geometry, offering a precise, comfortable fit enhanced by triple-layer polar foam. Rigid O Matter strap attachments yield a solid, draft-free seal.

Bottom Line: See through the light.

Great Goggles

By:
December 31, 2007

I'm a big fan of Oakley products. The Crowbar goggles do not disappoint. They offer exceptional clarity, almost no fogging, and a great fit.

I used A-Frames for 4 years before getting these. My son is using the A-Frames now. The Crowbar is a more traditional style than the A-Frame and feels better on a big face like mine.

The Crowbar is well ventilated and comes with a helmet-capable strap. The iridium lenses are pretty good in a wide range of conditions. I have never wanted to trade them out for anything other than night skiing. You will need to be careful with them because they are scratch prone. I don't know if it is because they are iridium or because the coating shows scratches more than other types. Minor scratches aren't too bad from the inside view, but lenses are not cheap to replace. The frames and foam are very durable. The A-frames have weathered over 100 days of boarding/skiing and still look like new. There is every reason to believe these will go at least that long.

Much like all the Oakley goggles I have owned, they are very good at keeping fog free. They are comfortable and stay put, thanks to the ribbing on the strap. Don't know how that would feel on my head, but they like the helmet just fine. I don't find myself adjusting them like I did the A-Frames - just run and gun. Oakley is smart about the material they put on the foam and they never get sweaty or sticky. I still get goggle lines.

Ski/Snowboard goggles are ridiculously overpriced. There are MANY goggles that cost half as much that look as good or better than their peers; however, Oakley goggles continue to stand out in my experience. Are they cheap? No way. Smith and Scott make some pretty good goggles, but I haven't found any that I like as much as Oakley. I would own more of their stuff if it was 15% less. These goggles will appeal to the enthusiast with a little extra pocket change. Are they $20+ better than competing products? Maybe. The non-iridium lens versions are every bit as good with a significant savings so if you want good goggles but are stretched at the price point, look that way. You can score iridium lenses later anyway. With Oakley, you get what you pay for, but be prepared to pay!

I purchased a pair of these right as they came out. I am a big believer in the helmet, and these goggles made wearing helmets cool. The infamous goggle gap is a fear of the past. Great helmet fit! The sturdy and spherical lens makes for great all around vision. A true cut above the rest, with the stylish and classic helmet fit!

Rock Star Goggles

I got these with the Iridium lens, and I also got the H.I. yellow. The Iridium lens is great for sunny days. Good def on the hill. The H.I. yellow is amazing for cloudy days and night skiing. It brings out every detail of the Mtn. Changing lens is fast with practice.

The lens keep cracking. Ive had the local dealer replace multiple times. Even with extreme care they are always cracked. Cant fiqure it out. Im going to try another pair then move onto something else. Otherwise they a good value. Fog resistance could be a little better. Comfort and feel are great.

Great Goggles!!

I bought these to replace my aging Oakley A-Frame goggles with Blue Iridium lens. I had those for about 6 years, and were nothing but happy with them. I moved up to the crowbars after hearing many great things about them. My first impression was that they weren't as comfortable as my A-Frames were, but that was actually very short lived. After a day or 2 of use, the foam had conformed to my face and made for a very comfortable fit. The initial issue with too much pressure around the nose was gone. Lens-wise, I felt the lens were great. I found the black iridium to actually be more versatile than my blue iridium lens on my A-Frames. To me, they worked well in flat light, bright sun, and I could even see well using them for night skiing. Another thing to mention is the Crowbars fit perfectly with my helmet (Bern Baker), and the grippy straps are a nice touch.

Overall, awesome goggle and Oakley continues to impress. Well worth the extra money over the competition.

Great goggles

You really can't go wrong with Oakley's eye wear, and these goggles uphold their great reputation. Good looks and top of the line technology couple for a force not to be reckoned with on the slopes. The Crowbars are comfortable and are well ventilated. I have the black iridium lenses and they are great for crystal clear, sunny days when the snow is blindingly bright. I highly recommend them.

Rock Em'

Best goggle I've used. Puts Smith and Scott to shame. They rarely fog, and the optics are killer. I found the best thing to do is to buy two pair; one for low light, one for sunny days. You could buy 1 frame and one extra lens, but that sucks. It's a pain to change the lenses, and when you do you muck up the lens with your fingerprints and oil

The lenses that have worked the best for me:
H.I ( high intensity) yellow for low light,
and
Gold/Black/Blu/ iridium for mostly sunny days

Get the Fire lens if you are going to be riding in bluebird/ glacier/ spring conditions. It's money.

here in colorado i have the opportunity to ski on weekends and days i am not in school. i have always used the a frame and now that i switched to the crowbar i will never go back. i have the gold iridium lenses and i use them in dim and sunny conditions they are amazing as well as comfortable. it is also better than the a frame or wisdom if you use a helmet because the strap is pushed out by the goggle. buy this goggle and you will never use anything else. also my friend is a goggle rep at the local ski shop and he said oakley only uses the purest plutonite unlike smith or scott. get this goggle right now

Oakley Crowbars are among my favorite goggles for sure. I have about 10 pairs now. They are light-weight, and the Oakley lenses surpass any i have tried before!! If your not rockin' Crowbars I would highly suggest any of Oakley's line!!!

I have been riding with Spy goggles for the last two years. I can say that the crowbar goggles fit better and give me a wider range of vision than my old Spy's I would recommend to anyone looking for an upgrade in goggles.

Excellent in bright sun (black iridium lens)

By:
February 24, 2006

Very comfortable to ski in all day and work very well in bright sunlight. Flip side of that is that they are not what you want on an overcast day or in deep shadows. Field of view is great, and as with other Oakleys I've had you can easily forget you have lenses in front of your eyes when the sun is out.

Awesome goggles!

By:
January 15, 2007

I purchased these for my 21-year-old snowboarding son for Christmas. He was really happy with the style of the goggles (he has several pairs of Oakley sunglasses already)...but when he snowboarded with them after Christmas, he LOVED the way they felt on and loved the color of the lens. Overall, I would recommend these goggles. They never fogged up and he was able to see contrast great, even on cloudy days!

Really Good

By: Backcountry.com Employee
January 18, 2008

These are my favorite goggles. They have ton's of optical clarity and are super comfortable. They work with the smith variant brim helmet, and the bern baker EPS helmet fine. Super durable goggles, Super Comfortable, I haven't had as many problems with fogging with these as I have had with other goggles. All in all, what else could you ask for?

best ever

By:

these goggles are the best i have owned. i love oakley and have had the a-frames before. i am about 5'2 and the fit fine. i did have trouble with my a-frames fitting my face but that was because i was younger and way smaller. these have great peripheral vision and they vent fine. strongest goggle ever and can definitely take a hit.

Persimmon lens great for flat light.

By: Backcountry.com Employee
May 28, 2008

These seem to get a bit wet, and to keep them from fogging, I had to poke out the foam in the bottom vents. But overall, the visual perspective in them is fantastic, they are super comfy on your face, and the foam seems to hold up a lot better than most goggle foam. Really a great goggle, they just need to make them vent better.

Not a fab as expected

By:
February 8, 2008

I purchased these goggles having read rave reviews about their efficacy in any light. The first day I wore them it was between storms in Tahoe and there was no direct sun. The light was pretty flat and I felt like I was skiing blind. The lenses did nothing to pick up any texture on the slope. In sun, they're fine, but not great. Overall I'm not overly impressed with the famous iridium lens. Still on the hunt for the ideal pair of goggles...
