Oakley Annorak 4.izzo Jacket - Men's - 2007

When temps get cizold, throw on the Oakley Men's Anorak 4.izzo Jacket and stay warm in some 200g polyfill toastiness. This jacket's burly ripstop-nylon shell repels water or champagne when it's time to party on New Years Eve. A removable faux fir hood fringe keeps you warm when temps are feeling like the ice planet Hoth. Oakley embroidery adds a little spice of style to this casual Oakley jacket.

Bottom Line: The Oakley 4.izzo Anorak keeps you toasty when temps get freezy.

Steal this jacket

By:
November 24, 2008

I got this jacket for $80 from Backcountry as part of a special promotion, and I feel like I stole it. I bought it because, as advertised, it appeared to satisfy my five non-negotiable winter jacket requirements (1) it was black; (2) it had a hood; (3) it had handwarmer pockets; (4) it covered my butt; and (5) it has no readily discernible logos.

I was not disappointed. The jacket is very warm -- I've worn it in windy, twenty degree weather with nothing but a thermal t-shirt underneath, and it's been comfortable. The hood keeps my shaved head warm, and its design, combined with the faux-fur, does a decent job of protecting my face from the wind. It looks great, seems very well-made, and some silly decorative embroidery on the sleeves is all but invisible.

It also has a few cool features that were not advertised. The large exterior pockets are secured by small magnets (as is the wind flap that covers the zipper). You can get into the pockets without having to fumble with a zipper. The sleeves have built-in stretchy thing-ees, which keep snow and wind from creeping up your arms.

Is it perfect? Well, no. It's not quite long enough to cover my butt when I'm seated. The zipper can be a bit fussy -- it has to be perfectly aligned at the bottom to work, and that's hard to do with gloves on. It would be nice to have some fleecy stuff up inside near the chin for when the jacket's zipped up all the way. It's a tiny bit pouffy at the belly (which maybe could be a good thing if you're a bit chubby). And I certainly could live without the embroidery, and the fake-Army insignia patch on one arm.

Still, I can safely say I've never had a better winter jacket at any price. And while I'm certainly happy I got it $80, I'd also say that it's easily worth the current asking price.

It really depends on if the Hadron Collider can achieve a black hole or not. In other words, no one knows, and whoever actually knows does not seem to be telling.

great jacket

By:
October 24, 2008

Got to try out my jacket for the first time this season. Freezing temps and gale force winds....didn't even notice it! This jacket is super warm, the hood fits your face great. It seems to run a bit small, I probably would have ordered one size up.

I could not be any happier!!

By:
February 12, 2009

I needed a heavy jacket to wear for 0 degree weather. Came across the 4. izzo, read the reveiws and was convinced. So far its been through -6(-20wind) with no problem. Its long and warm. Great first impression, just hope it last. CONS:
-Zipper is stubborn, taking the coat off can be annoying untill it gets broken in.
-A little to big. Im 5'11 215lbs and got an XL. this is bad b/c the lower pockets are too far down. I am not able to "rest" my hands in them.
-cuffs dont play well with gloves that have gauntlets. My gloves wont fit over the sleeves and i find that its easier to dawn gloves first then the jacket.

Better than no jacket at all...

By:
January 9, 2009

First off, I'm in Chicago. There is no way that this jacket will stand up to any weather between November and March. It's fine for 40 degree weather, but not below. Build quality is WAY below average - hugely disappointed. Threads coming out from the seams, all over. NO joke. It looks like it was sewn together in three minutes or less...Stay away, or wste your time & money.
