For small to medium-sized faces, the Oakley Ambush Goggles give you a balanced and comfortable fit with or without a helmet thanks to articulating O Matter strap clips. Oakley gave the Ambush a dual-vented lens as well as an F2 anti-fog coating to eliminate cloudy build up when you’re cutting turns in moist conditions. Triple-layer, moisture-wicking fleece foam keeps you comfortable until the lifts quit running.

I wear these goggles over a XL Giro Talon Helmet and they fit wonderfully! The goggles provide extreme clarity and the VR28 Lens is awesome in the bright sun. Overall, an awesome goggle which you would expect from Oakley
So about the lenses... this sounds weird but i need to have lenses that don't have a tint to them and appear clear when looking through them. With the "fire" lenses, is this possible? or do they all have a tint?
The Fire lens is very heavily tinted, so that won't work. The Persimmon is also tinted, but not as darkly, and the Black Iridium is colorless, but darker. It's gray, really. Oakley does make a clear lens for this goggle, but it doesn't come with since it's kind of specialized.
I have a Red Skycap Helmet and these goggles have no problem fitting snugly around the helmet and the rubber on the inside of the strap prevents the goggles from slipping on the smooth helmet surface. I used them for the first time this week in Garmisch Germany on the highest mountain in the country where the weather changes very quickly and dramaticly, and I could see crystal clear all day everyday without any fogging.
They would, but basically they are a smaller cousin of the Crowbar designed for small-medium faces. So larger faces would benefit from the larger frame of the Crowbar.
I wore these goggles in CO and they worked great. I could see all day in snowy and cloudy and sometimes light sun. I got the polished white with black iridium lense. I have a small face and they fit quite well. I haven't tried them with a helmet yet but the hinges on the sides seem to cover that.
I would recommend the yellow or persimmon lenses, or you could buy a clear lens and put that in for the really low light conditions. You can find replacement lenses here at backcountry.comhttp://www.backcountry.com/store/OAK1862/Oakley-Ambush-Replacement-Lenses.html
While I really liked the fit, shape and style, the let down was the strap. It was just too short to wear with a helmet.Felt like my face was being squashed. If you don't use a helmet, these are great for small to medium sized faces. Otherwise, go for the A Frame instead. They are only slightly bigger, but have more color and lens options in the range.
I need some goggles for winter biking, but most do not have very good peripheral vision. Also, I have a small face. Heard the crowbar was good, but for large faces... any suggestions? Also, what is an inexpensive snowboard helmet for winter biking?
The crowbars would be a good way to go. You might also look at some of the line from Zeal. Great for medium to small faces and very descent on periph. vision. For winter biking, check out some of the helmets from both Smith and Giro. They'll work great!
These being my first pair of oakley goggles I wasn't let down. Everything was clear, no fogging and the strap fit around my helmet and held tight even with a couple of nasty falls.
Most of the other Oakley goggles are huge, so the Ambush is definitely one for people with small/medium size faces, got the polished white with black iridium lenses, looks great just like a stormtrooper, did not fog up once during my last 4 day trip to Niseko, design is great not too OTT, but did not try these goggles on with a helmet though
I got the polished white and fire they look amazing and fit great with my helmet. Took them out this weekend and had no problems with fogging. It was overcast and snowing so I had a little problem in the tree line but nothing to do with the goggles themselves. Now they're on sale I would definitely pick them up.
