Oakley All Mountain Hiking Boot - Men's

Some waterproof liners make your feet die a slow, stuffy, sweaty death. The eVENT waterproof breathable membranes in the Oakley Men’s All Mountain Hiking Boots actually let your feet breathe. These membranes block rain on fall hikes and slushy snow on spring backpacking trips. The lightweight polyurethane midsoles cushion without feeling like lead in your boots, while the full-grain leather uppers handle scuffs and scratches. A high cuff on these Oakley hiking boots supports your ankles when you carry a heavy pack.

Bottom Line: Wet trails, dry feet.

Just not for MY feet

By:

I was very please when I put these boots on. Very comfortable right out of the box. Enough toe room to keep me from bring uncomfortable when going down hill. Good ankle support. Waterproof, I can vouch for that. But these were a bit on the wide side. The ball of my feet and my toes were thankful, but my heels took a real beating. After the second hike in as many weeks, covering only 12 miles, thankfully it was a loop, I had blisters the size of my thumb on the outside edge of both heels. That was 3 weeks ago. They are only just now healing. If you have even SLIGHTLY narrower feet, do not use these boots. They look great and feel great right up till the time when you really need them to do their job.

comfy outa the box

My wife picked these up for me without me knowing till they showed. I'm a pretty picky shoe buyer and like to try before I buy cuze I have a high instep that doesn't allow me to properly tighten some boots I've tried. And let's face it, if your feet ain't happy then you ain't happy. Anyway I was pleasantly surprised when I tried them on, no problems! Great fit right out of the box. They say you should go a half size bigger for hiking but these are my regular size so I don't think it's necessary with these as I think they might run a little big. The traction is awsome and very aggressive, went backpacking for a weekend over labor day with the fam and the trial went from flat to probly a 45+ degree up hill with switch backs occosionally and they gripped the whole way up. There was also a lot of granite ruble and rocks up there and water and mud and I put them through the paces and they held up just fine. Did I mention that it snowed 4" the night before we had to hike out and back down the mountain? Well it did, I was then thankfull for the little bit of insulation they have, other wise I couldn't tell that they were any warmer than any other non-insulated boot in the warmer weather. They got pretty wet on the way out but my feet stayed dry even even after wading across the couple of streams and hiking through the snow as it was melting. I would recomend that you treat the leather before any serious water abuse as my leather got a little water stained by the end of the trip cuze I forgot to treat before the trip. Otherwise they still look new.
Bottom line. I think these boots are great and would definatly recomend.

I have some StreetCars hiking boots that I have been wearing

I have some StreetCars hiking boots that I have been wearing for a long time. They are like putting on really strong socks they are so comfortable. I am a firm believer in ubercomfort where the feet are concerned. Are these as comfortable as all that? I understand boots can be sized differemtly than shoes. I wear a size 10.5 tennis shoe. What size should I order?

Yeah they will take a little while to break in since they are full grain leather, but after a few times wearing them they will break in nicely and be quite comfortable. As far as size just get what you wear in regular shoes. A 10.5 will work just fine.

I wore these boots for a week in NYC through rain, ice, snow, and temps in the teens. I was very happy with the boots and would recommend as cold weather hikers. They do run a size big though.

Sweet question! I hiked Philmont about ten years ago in a similar type of boot. It will be perfect. Heavy duty enough to handle the trails, but lightweight enough to not be too much of a burden. Hope you enjoy your trip, Philmont is awesome!

90 day warrantee? Thats the shortest guarantee Ive seen. Is this product gonna fall apart on me? Oakley must not have confidence in their product, can anyone vouch for the durability of these boots?

If you want eyewear, go to an eyewear company. If you want boots, don't go to an eyewear company. Oakley doesn't have confidence in them because they don't do boots (primarily), they do sunglasses and goggles. Doesn't matter anyway, you can return them to Backcountry even if they break 30 years from now.
