Don the Oakley A Frame Goggles and try farting in them to fog them up. It may sound gross, but it’s probably an effective method for testing Oakley’s integrated dual-lens and surge-vent technology. Or hit the mountain and leave the beans at home. Oakley sealed a layer of air between two fog-treated lenses to reduce the chance of fog accumulating. Vented air circulates through the bottom of the A Frame and back out the top so air doesn’t have a chance to get trapped in your goggle and fog your lens. Impact resistant frames, triple-layer foam with wicking fleece, and total UV protection make the A Frame the workhorse of Oakley’s lineup.
Bottom Line: Your mind might be foggy from last night’s aprčs session, but the Oakley A Frame goggle stays clear all day.
Got mine in the Carbon Fiber/VR28. I love the VR28 lens and have owned two Oakley sunglasses with them. So it was only natural for me to get them for the A Frame. This goggle works! Fits great with no helmet and with one. I use it with my Giro G10 and it seems like they were made for each other. I recommend this combo if you are shopping for both. The optics like everybody below says are great and do not fog up. The VR28 warms everything up in your view and makes the scenery look even prettier. The lens also holds up well. I have not noticed any apparent scratches on mine and I've used them for several seasons. Highly recommended.

First of all, these are Oakleys, so you can't go wrong. No fogging, great comfort, good quality, and of course good style. I own a pair of these and love them. The lens are crystal clear and you often forget you're wearing them. As for the lens tents, I have a persimmon lens which shows from the chart to allow 61% light through. These seem to be an all around tent for me. Even on the bright sunny days I can get by and the cloudy days work as well. I have an H.I. Yellow lens for cloudier days and night riding. Anything much darker than 61% would be tough on cloudy days, and anything that allows much more than 61% light would be an eye squinting experience on sunny days. To help those who are trying to decide between Crowbars, Wisdoms, and A-Frames hopefully I can help. First, the A-Frames tend to fit a medium to smaller face. They're definately the smallest of the three. Because of this they also have the least amount of peripherel vision when wearing them. However, if you're face is smaller you probably won't notice this anyways. The Crowbars and Wisdoms are made for the medium to larger faces. Both have a bigger field of view than the A-Frames but are slightly differently shaped. The Crowbars and A-frames have the typical goggle shape while the Wisdoms have more of a rounded shape towards the bottom. I find that the Crowbars fit tighter around your nose than the Wisdoms do. So if you have a bigger nose I would go with the Wisdoms. Either way, all three are great goggles, and better yet, if you order from here and they don't fit, you can send them back and change your order without any problem. These guys have GREAT customer service!
I dont know much about this stuff so i need to know what lense to get? I snowboard mostly at night or at dusk so whitch lense is going to help me the most? Thanks!
For dudes: HI Yellow....it is fantastic in flat light......and use the Fire or Black Iridium for mostly sunny bluebird days. For female rippers: Pink Iridium for flat light.......and Black Iridium for sunny bluebird.
I live in Alaska and ski in flat light conditions frequently. I use high-intensity (read: high contrast) yellow lenses and often can see fine when my buddies have no idea where they're going (using amber or dark lenses). This lenses don't help much in bright sun, though. I use black iridium for bright conditions. Some people like to use one lens for all conditions. I say good luck to that!
I've used persimmon and hi-yellow for low light days and i'd go with the hi yellow. Both work fine but i could see the bumps better with the hi yellow when it's cloudy and snowing out...
persimmon, pink iridium, & HI Persimmon are the best all-around lenses. The HI Persimmon adds a little bright sun versatility to the persimmon. In VT, I'll ride the HI yellow the most though.
Personally I think that the HI Yellow is the best for low light, and night skiing. I used it for the better part of last year, and it holds up on a lot of conditions.
I picked these up for a steal on SAC last year because of the great price and the need for a good low light goggle. The High Intensity Persimmon lens works amazing in low light and white/grey-out conditions. These have been battle tested at Whistler Blackcomb and definitely saved my ass on Stefan's Chute in near whiteout conditions.
good optics, quality, and anti fogging...but i just dont like em, fit is bad with lots of pressure on the forehead, they are really small and you can see lots of frame in your feild of vision, and the small size and round shape makes them a really bad fit with my red hi fi, mutiny, and my protec ace freecarve...mabye its just me but i prefer a bigger goggle with more style and better performance too
If you get a chance to buy these lens, do it! Best overall lens for any condition except for the bluebird days. And my low profile glasses do just fine underneath my a-frames, but be sure to buy some Fog tech and your glasses will never fog.
These goggles are awesome! No gimmicks or stupid useless features. Just great technology that follows the K.I.S.S. principle: Keep It Simple, Stupid. These things rarely fog up, are extremely comfortable and do not impair vision whatsoever. I have nothing but praise for this item.
I've used these goggle for years and they have never let me down. I have a very small face so if you are in this catagory then these are the goggle for you. I have the persimmon lenses. They are great for most anything. Sometimes on really sunny days above tree line they don't feel dark enough but it's tolerable. I'd also like to add that I was wearing these long before his highness Shawn White even existed. People, if it doesn't fit, don't buy it. In any case, Oakley makes a primo product in many sizes. They have fogged up on me once last season and it was because we had really wet snowy conditions. Don't let them sit on a wet hat or head for too long and always have a spare pair in your bag.
I love my Oakley A-Frame goggles! I got the text graphic with the HI Yellow lens, which works out pretty good for almost any lighting, even night skiing. They fit monster well into the Giro G10 MX helmet, and don't fog on me at all. I have even skied with glasses on under them, and they worked all right, not super well. All in all a monster goggle!
They'll fit, you may need an extension based on the size of your lid though. I wear a-frames and have a smith variant brim and a giro g10. A-frames rock and fit great with both.
Picked these up last year off of SAC for a great price. My face is medium-ish, and I wear a medium helmet and they fit great. Comfortable gaggles, indeed! Seemed like anyone I was with always asked me "why arent your goggles fogging?" as they cleaned theirs off for the fifth time before lunch. I got the black iridium lens, which is a bit dark for my liking since I carve at night whenever I can, but it works great with nearly any light during the day. Definitely not a high end lens, but the A-frames are for sure with your money if you're looking for some great performance at a reasonable price.
Got this on steepandcheap... couldnt get something better, great fit, geared towards small - medium face, great vision, they are teh pink iridium and they look great
I bought these a few days ago and used them for night skiing and day. I loved the way the fit. I have a jet black frame with Pink Iridium. Also the goggle keeps your eyes from tearing up! Worth a look!
This is a classic Oakley goggle! Really cool design and great lenses of cource! This goggle comes in so many different colors, which is unusual for Oakley! Really a great goggle to a good price!
i have the a frames!! they are SOO comfy!! never get fogged, fits great with helmets. it doesnt matter what colour you get, their all the same, so dont spend time deciding just pick at random! these goggles rock! shaun white uses them!! OAKLEY A FRAME
The A-frames may be one of the most popular goggles and the market, and for good reason. No matter what size or shape face you have they seem to fit seamlessly. They have very good clarity regardless of what lens you have. The Persimmon lens is an amber tint that works well in pretty much every condition. There are only two issues I have with these. A) The lens although curved for better field of vision is a little on the small side, especially compared to competing Smith models. B) The venting on here is good, but not great. The vents can and do get clogged if it snowing heavily or if you are skiing in deeper snow, causing fog issues.
I have a small face and wear glasses. I tried on the A frame today at my local shop (way too expensive) and they fit great over my glasses. Although they are small they are elongated at the ends. I know they are not OTG and they don't have the indentations for the arms but if they fit well over my glasses, is there any reason they won't work well on the slopes. Thanks,Ron
Hey Ronzoni, The A frames are a great google. Hopefully the foam on the sides fills in that gap for your arms. The Wisdoms are your next best bet. Oakley goggles are primo for the slopes. Anon Ops are great too. My only problem is if you yard sale(even the best of us crash) I hope you can get your glasses back. Then you most likely will have a little fog problem for a bit. So yes, you should have no problems with that. Next option would be contacts.
But worth every penny. Great ventilation and sit well on my narrow face with plenty of room to spare. I had an issue with the Yellow Iridium lens fogging in between the lenses but Oakley sent a replacement within days. The Yellow Iridium was way to bright for my taste but Oakley was flexible and exchanged them for the Pink Iridium lens, which I love, I haven't experienced any more fogging.
These have been my go-to goggles for the past ten years. Fit my smaller face perfectly and go well with my Giro Fuse helmet. As mentioned else where, don't wipe the inside of the lens if they are wet or you will scratch them up (dab instead). Lots of options of lens choices for a wide range of conditions (my favs are HI Yellow, Persimmon and Black Iridium).
Beginner who is trying to decide between Oakley A Frame and Oakley Ambush. First time buying goggles and would like to know opinions on the two and is the price difference worth spending? Also, what color lense would be best suited and most versatile for Colorado skiing? Thanks!
The A-frame is such a solid goggle that you absolutely can't go wrong with. But the crowbar is my personal favorite, as for the ambush, it's a brand new design that looks like it would probably be fine for you, but I'd go with the curved lens. (a-frame/crowbar/wisdom) As for the lens color, don't go for something too dark, I wouldn't recommend the fire iridium because they suck in flat light. Anything else will be fine though really. I have even used the black iridium in flat light and they aren't that bad.
Although Amy did break her arm and is in the sled being towed down the mountain at the canyons... these black A-Frames still kept her eyes protected. She is wearing Blue iridium lenses with the jet black frame.
Great Goggles! They fit my face perfectly, they do not fog up, and are perfect for flat-light end of the day skiing. They can also be used in direct sunlight. Best goggles I have ever owned.
Oakley A-Frame are the only goggle i will wear. The lens clarity and quality is amazing, the fit on my face is perfect and I've never had the lens fog up. I own two pairs, one with a blue iridium lens for sunny days and another pair with a H.I. Yellow lens for the cloudy/overcast days.
either iridium would be good. The lenses are interchangeable but not on the fly. They take about 5 minutes to take in and out when you're changing them at home
I have yet to find another goggle that outperforms the A Frames. They vent well, they are very comfortable on my largish noggin, they fit well with my helmet, and they look sick. The Blue Iridium lenses work really well for Colorado blue bird days and have survived numerous swipes from stray tree branches.
Have used a lot of different goggles over the years....but now I will never buy anything else but Oakley........Purchased 2 pairs at the beginning of the season....A pair of Fire lenses and HI Yellow lenses for flat light days.....The goggles have a great fit (w/ a hat) and style. I finally paid a little more for a quality Oakley product and I was not disappointed. Top notch goggle. An addtion to this review is that this goggle does not fit my K2 Crossfire helmet at all. I have since returned my Crossfire helmet, and now I will be wearing a Smith Maze.......the A Frames fit the Smith Maze perfectly.
I love these goggles, they fit so snug and breath real well. The Iridium lenses are even good in low light conditions, I say get em, but it'll cost you a pretty penny but worth every cent
The HI Yellow is great for that, HI Persimmon, and Pink lenses work well to around that time too. I ski afternoon and into the night a lot, if you don't feel like changing out your lenses then I would go with the Pink Iridium. I hope this helps! You may even eant to go with a clear gold lens.
Great Goggles, amazing optics, no surprise from Oakley...
I find these fit much better with a Giro Helmet than the Crowbars or Wisdoms. I tried both of those models and they were way too big to fit comfortably with my (M Men's) helmet. A frame was the way to go.
These goggles are amazing. They fit great. I wear a Smith Variant Brim helmet and they fit great with that. You barely notice they are there. The optics are really good, crisp and clear. I have two pair, one with black iridium for most days and H.I. Persimmon for those flat light days. Plus I like having two pair so when I take a nice fall into some pow I have a pair of dry goggles in my pocket. These do a great job not fogging up, but you get any goggle wet enough it's going to fog. So why not just have two.
I have regular prescription glasses and I heard that the Oakley a frame goggles are relatively small and I was wondering if they would still fit underneath of the goggles?
The oakley A Frames are the smallest of the line that Oakley has. They aren't meant to work with perscription glasses. Oakley does make goggles though that are meant for glasses underneath. I would look into those.
I have had 4 of these googles. That is truly how much I love this style and feel of this goggle. The reason why I have gone through so many was because of color and I kept on scratching the lenses. NOTE: Never ever wipe the inside of the googles, even with the bag provided. I have noticed that this scratches the inside of the lens. you will have a bad day if you do this.
Pictured here are the white frame with the blue iridium lenses. I feel as though this is the best priced all around mountain lens. Not too dark and not bad on an overcast day. I hate changing lenses.
Also if you have a small frame face like me consider looking into oakley asian fit or womens specific goggles like the stockholm.
It's a very comfortable goggle. I have the wintermint splatter but it has the blue iridium and it has great visibility in any light. Plus it looks pretty sick
Really like these so far. I was worried about the specs saying these were for small faces but I've got a regular sized face and huge noggin and these fit fine over an XXL helmet. I bought the black with black iridium lenses and I've been meaning to buy another lens for sunnier days. Got some comments that they looked cool too.
No, But oakley makes an O Frame for kids. Let your kid try them on first. They are made for small faces and the strap can get pretty small.--adding--My little brother who is 8 years old, wears the a-frame, and they fit him good. Lots of other kids wear them too.
When I bough my helmet, I was very disappointed to see how badly it fit my Zeal Maniac goggles. Since then I bought and returned two pairs of goggles, and even went to a store with my helmet and tried a bunch of goggles there. Nothing fit right until this one. I bought this A frame after reading reviews that mentioned a good fit with the same helmet model. I can now testify that it actually fits my helmet well. I haven't tried it skiing yet so I can't comment any further. I wish it had a buckle for easy on/off, but for what I paid (under $25) i can't complain too much :).
The oakley A frame is waaaaaaaaay too small for glasses.they wont fog up but maybe go with a lighter lense like pink iridium or VR28 also a HI Yellow lense you can always buy and return back country guarantee complete satisfaction and an unlimited lifetime warranty. If at any time -- now, next month, in 30 years -- you're not 100% satisfied, send your gear back for a full refund or exchange. No questions asked. Also, depending on the size of your glasses, you might want to consider the Oakley Wisdom's or Oakley Crowbar's. These are a little bigger goggle that has more room inside for you glasses to fit freely. I'm not familiar with wearing glasses and goggles at the same time, but none of the Oakley goggles that you pick should fog up. I'm not sure about your glasses staying fog free though. The goggles do have good venting, so I would guess that as long as you're moving you should be ok. You could also buy an anti fog spray for your glasses and then you should have no problems at all.
I've struggled with goggles for years. Do I buy numerous sets or one that does it all. I thought amber lenses were good but in flat light, here in the northwest, it dulls texture in the terrain. My friend kept bugging me to get the Pink Iridium. So I did and have no regrets! Their great even on sunny days!
I wear glasses, they fit perfect. No fogging except when its a really hot day and it is my glasses and not the goggles. Fit well, good quality for sure
Great pair of goggles. They dont fog when you are moving, They fit well with or without a helmet, and they look good. Plus you can interchange the lenses for about a million diffrent varieties. I use the "fire" and "persimmon". Between those two you can get through anything.
These goggles are dope. If you ride in New England then the hi yellow lenses are a must. I have the Giro G10 helmet and these goggles are an excellent fit. Also have the Blue Iridium for trips out west. Overall, best goggles that i've owned.
great, comfortable fit for my small face! i had a pair of von zipper goggles but they were to big and uncomfortable to wear with my helmet (we all KNOW we should always wear our helmets!) great anti fogging lens i wear on sunny days with no problems. love these goggles, highly reccomend them!! 5 stars
A frame fits OK on the large face, but has a small lens size which blocks the downward view, Crowbar has the nice view with a large lens, but is too small inside to fit on a man's large face, the same with Wisdom: large lens with a good view, but fits on small faces. Oakley has a big problem with the frame design. What is great about Oakley is the Optics. They make the best optics, but I cannot find a good frame, which make the goggles useless. I will go with Uvex.
Finley already touched on the majority of the points I would have made. I just wanted to add that after owning these goggles for 4 years and wearing them a ton they are still in great shape and do not fog. I have these with the blue iridium lenses that are shown in the picture and they work great and look great for me here on the east coast.
These goggles are exactly what I wanted. They don't fog and are a perfect fit. The only thing is that the foam blocks your vision striaght down, but after wearing the goggles for about 5 minutes, you get completely used to it. I highly recommend these goggles.
Really, last season I had a pretty wicked face plant in the terrain park. I cracked a couple ribs. Had I not been wearing goggles, my nose would have been broken for sure. And I was stoked that the lenses didn't even scratch! You can spend more money on a goggle without the spherical lens, and trust me, you want a spherical lens. The optical clarity can't be matched since the lens follows the curvature of the eye more closely than a normal goggle lens. Before you buy any goggle, make sure you try them on with YOUR helmet, not just any helmet. I actually own 2 pair of the A-frames. One High-Intensity Yellow, the other Persimmon.
You really can't go wrong with these. They are probably THE quintessential pair of goggles you will every own. Timeless classics (just now in 101 different color combinations!!)
