Osprey Packs Transit Courier Computer Bag - 1700 cu in - 2007

Stay organized with the Osprey Transit Courier Computer Bag when you're heading to work, walking to class or chasing a plane. Its foam-reinforced main compartment holds its shape and a padded internal sleeve holds a 17in laptop for easy access. Two pockets on the top flap and another for your water bottle keep important items accessible. The removable waist-belt, in addition to the padded shoulder strap, increases comfort when you have to spend your whole day on your feet.

Bottom Line: This bag makes your own transit a little more bearable.

Excellent bag...but this is an old model

By:

I've had this bag for two years. Yes, two years...this exact model. For some reason Backcountry is still selling this particular model as if it's new. An updated model came out in Fall 2007, with some definite upgrades, so unless they wanna sell you this one for a clearance price (which would be the moral thing to do), look around for the newer version. However, it's fall 2008 now, so maybe there's ANOTHER one around the corner. All that said, the Osprey Transit bags are EXCELLENT. I've beaten the living tar out of mine for the past two years and it's still bombproof. Always seems like I can stuff way more junk into it than is humanly possible. I've been all around the world with it, carried camcorders in it, used it as a gym bag, and carried my 17 inch Macbook Pro in it (great padding and protection, by the way). Highly recommended.

Cool bag, falls short of great.

Great bag. I've had it for almost 2 years. Still in good shape. I fly a lot and this bag is great for the plane because it's all self contained. Carries a lot of stuff. A few caveats. This bag is not comfortable on a bike with a 15.4 laptop. The straps are anchored too low and it cantilevers the laptop into your back. A cross strap like Timbuk2 would be nice to limit the canitlever effect. Also, the zipper pulls broke after only a couple of days. The zipper, while heavy duty, is a pita to get open. I love the durability, I just wish it was more comfortable.

Helps out in a tight situation

I have laid my road bike over 3 times this summer either riding to or from work and this thing has saved my butt....literally. As may hits as it has taken I have never hurt my lap top and it is still in great shape.

Awesome bag

Got this when I purchased a laptop, and its a great bag. It maintains its shape, full or empty, which makes it super easy to find the tiny thing you put in the bottom. Multitude of pockets, including a nice fleece lined one on top for sunglasses. Holds all my stuff with room for more, and remains comfortable with a computer, anatomy and physiology book, and an EMT book in it.

(Almost) 6 month update

By: Backcountry.com Employee
March 7, 2008

Just wanted to update this review after using the bag daily for almost 6 months; It still rocks. Nothing has faded, torn, or worn, not even a little bit. I carry about 15-20 pounds in it on average, and no part of the bag has started to sag, it still holds form when put on the ground. All the zippers are as functional as they were on day one, and I just can't say enough good things about the bag.
