The Osprey React Daypack blurs the lines between book bag and hiking pack with a combination of versatile class-ready features and a streamlined design. An organizer pocket keeps you pens, PDA, cell phone, and other essentials handy while the shoulder-strap pocket holds your MP3 player to keep the tunes going strong. You can take the Osprey React Daypack to school, and then head straight out for a day hiker after class. Not to mention the fact that this bag was made with recycled materials.
Bottom Line: Go to class, and then go on a hike with Osprey's React Daypack.
I hiked this pack all over Spain and it was up to the task. Pack has very good pockets and ergonomics. There is a spot for everthing and space for a bulky jacket. I beat it up pretty hard on the trains, subways, taxis and boats with no real signs of wear. It's pretty light as well.
My son uses it for school and for short weekend trips and loves it. He packs light and this is perfect. It is not as flimsy feeling as the others and holds it body shape for harder things during the week (books and pc) so it is the perfect marriage of a pack for his age. It also has a thin waist strap for longer hikes. Loves the recycled aspect too! Go team! Thanks!
Does it have a laptop compartment like the Cypher? I have the Cypher but am thinking of switching to React. Or is there very little difference between the two in terms of capacity?
Excellent backpack for everyday use and day trips. It looks amazing and people dig the recycled materials story (I live in California). Straps are very comfortable, it is easy to readjust the straps on the fly even when carrying uneven loads. I like the pockets arrangement, there is plenty of room for lots of stuff and I like the fact this backpack looks great both when fully loaded and when lightly loaded (it sits well and doesn't sag). The two side mess pockets for water bottles hold them secured even when running. The only issue I found was it's hard for me to pull out or place back big water bottles without switching the bag to one shoulder - however it's a minor issue for me and this product is definitely 5 stars. It is hydration pack ready (I didn't see that on the product description page facts) - there is a dedicated partition inside the main compartment with concealed port to insert a water tube out. That took care of the only caveat I had... ;-)

I was looking for a backpack that didn't have too many large pockets. This has only one large pocket, an outer half pocket that closes with a "buckle" which allows easy access. Then there is a space in between the large pocket and the outer half pocket that zips down the left and the right sides. And Osprey snuck in some great small inner zippered pockets and places to hold your pens, etc. There's also a cell phone holder on the shoulder strap. This backpack has everything I wanted and more. And the best thing of all it's made of RECYCLED material which is really important to me. We all need to be more aware of what we can keep out of the landfills by recycling.
This is a great pack. Plenty of space and pockets for organizing. It's not too large so it fits a petite figure but still allows for plenty of packing space. It is light weight and non-technical so perfect for traveling. The straps are very comfortable.
BEST BACKPACK EVER!!!! Stays off your back as not to get too sweat. Plenty of pockets and even when it's loaded down it isn't uncomfortable or too heavy on the back. High quality fibers and environmentally friendly! Only bad thing is no upper strap for support (across the chest)but 5 stars none the less :)
