Ortovox Professional Aluminum Avalanche Shovel - 2007

The Ortovox Professional Alu avalanche shovel is ideal for ski mountaineers and freeriders who demand the highest standards in function and design. The 2003/2004 season Professional Alu has a telescopic handle and ergonomically designed non-slip grip which works for right or left handers. Flip the handle around and you have a unique scoop which allows you to pull snow toward you (ie for a sheer test) or reach down and raise snow out of a snow pit. The very strong, unbreakable shovel blade is made from an aluminum/magnesium alloy. There is a lifetime warranty on the shovel blade.-Vendor

FKNA Best Shovel !!

This is the best shovel I have ever had.
Plastic is too flimsy to chop hard debris. This thing chops like a mo-fo.
chop, chop, chop, scoop - that's what you have to do in hard set-up avy debris.
Light, small, strong.
What more could you want?
Some metal shovels are too thin in the blade or at the wrong angle to chop well.
This one is perfect.
If you want a bigger shovel, they make one more model that's larger, but it is much heavier.
Some steel/alloy shovels are not reinforced enough, and flex when chopping. Not this one.
You will not be dissappointed.
